I'd get him a Coles Myer voucher. That way, if he wants wine (good suggestion, PP) he can and if he wants a book/clothes/whatever, he can do that too.

Haha my sister's husband is someone I would describe like that!

I always go the gift voucher (and I am a person who HATES to give gift vouchers)...
