I hate my work sometimes...
Me and my friend from work are both mums to younger children, ie: not teenagers...
We were having a chat the other day how both our boss and our manager makes us feel guilty for taking days off if our children fall ill...
Like today, peter has come down with a bad cold and when hes sick he doesnt want his grandma or anyone, just me his mum!!
So when i called today could just tell on the tone of the voice of my manager that she was ****ed!
I hate it! Its not like we do it alot! Unfortunately my son has a had quite bad health the past few months, but its something thats out of our hands as mums..
Does anyone else get this??

Yep.
And also even if it is the teenager who is sick - I have carted my eldest to various specialists etc on days I would normally work through complete lack of choice, only to have some people treat me like I was doing it all to get a day or two off work!
I have also found it increasingly hard now I hve 3 children to make my sick leave go the distance. I've been sick myself towards the end of the year sometimes, and had no choice other than to take leave without pay or go to work ill.

It sucks doesnt it...
And we're all employed as casual so we dont get sick leave so its not like we do it for the hell of it, we do miss our pay but they dont seem to even take that into consideration!:banghead:
It would be hard for you with three kids!!! You poor thing!
Glad to hear im not the only one!
I am quite lucky that i have a nice boss. Although i havent taken any leaves yet but i know if i have to she'll let me. Unfortunately this is only a contract assignment. I wont be working with her for long.
Yep....and where I work, I shouldn't.
But, I have always made it very clear that my family comes first, and work a VERY clear second.
I try to not let their guilt games get to me.
Oh yeah I am feeling it right now. I am at home with a sick bub today. I have arranged for my husband to come home at lunch time and for each of us to do a 1/2 day as I work 4 days a week and had to have last Thursday off too. I know that my bosses personally aren't p***** off with me but it is causing havoc work wise.
Don't you love it you feel guilty for not being at work and the next day you get to feel guilty for putting a not 100% well kid into care. The joy's of working-motherhood.

I have been back at work for 11 weeks and in that time Will has had two bouts of gastro, conjunctivitis and the latest bronchiolitis! In the 11 weeks I have had at least 12 days off due to having to stay at home with Will. I asked my boss the other day what entitlements I have and luckily I am able to use my own sick days to care for my son - too bad if I get sick! The hardest thing that I find is having to still pay for childcare when he is sick. He is in 4 days a week at $209/week. He wasn't in at all last week, so there goes another $209 down the drain. I suppose that is just what you have to do.
