Remote living isn't that bad. I saw your post in the general chat, and really it is worth it to get in front. It's not forever and if it helps your family have a better life, than go for it.

Where I live isn't quite so remote (Just down the Oodnadatta Track from where you'll be ) and the town is bigger, but it is still in the middle of the desert.

My tips would be:
- If you don't already have one, buy a big chest freezer so you can stock up on groceries, especially meat and bread.
- Buy in bulk - UHT milk, canned stuff etc
- Online shopping! You can get most stuff, and usually a lot cheaper. We have a supermarket in town, but I buy a lot of stuff I could get there online because it is cheaper.
- Make sure you have current ambulance cover that includes Flying Doctors. They will fly you out for most serious-ish things (broken limbs etc) and it's not cheap if you don't have cover.

That's all I can think of for now. Good luck with the move!

Ohhh youll be out near where my hubby grew up! He was on the other side of the SA border in the middle of nowhere

I spent the last 5 years living remote and am about to move back to remote living after 1 year in the burbs!

Pretty much as Leah said.
Also, put yourself out there and get to know the other 103 people! Its important to have friends and hobbies.

I think the flying doctors is free though, well it is in WA and they are fantastic. We actually give them donations each year because we rely on them. They saved my beautiful twins from being born extremely premature.
