View Full Version : hypnobirth breathing help!!
I need to practice my hypnobirthing breathing but I have a blocked nose (I've had it for ages so I'm expecting to have it for the rest of the pregnancy). What can I do????

I've been finding my Calmbirth Breathing (prob same) has been helping to clear my nose a bit.
 But otherwise try using steam in the bathroom (shower perhaps) to clear your nose. Maybe use this time to practice.
 Don't know if eucalyptus is harmful in pregnancy. If not it might help also - you could burn or have a diffuser nearby when you are practicing.

Oh I remember being worried about having a blocked nose in labour! Perhaps ring your hypnobirth teacher and ask for some suggestions?

Hi Bec, I also did Calm Birthing and it worked wonderfully, I birthed ny first on drug free without tearing. I have always suffered from bad sinus and both my nasal passages were always at least partially blocked. I found that forcing myself to breathe in and out of mmy nose helped unblock them and to this day, my nose is much clearer than ever in my life!
Make sure you do the breathing all the time: when your driving, on Bubhub, lying down. I found it very werid and hard at first (I wasn't getting enough air for starters!) but after lots of practise, it really does come naturally and it was THE key to getting through my birth with Noah.
Lots of luck, kepp the breathing going!
