1. Empathy. Understanding that other people are suffering and that isn't ok. Being aware of how their own actions can impact on others. I want to teach them about global problems and encourage them to show empathy to those less fortunate than themselves.

2. Self respect. If they value themselves, they can expect other people to.

3. Tolerance. To understand that other people think differently and that is ok.

4. Passion. To believe in things, to fight causes, to have strong convictions and be true to them.

5. A sense of justice. To fight injustice. I don't want them to be afraid to stick up for the little people, or themselves.

ETA, i thought of another important one so I'm having 6 :p. I want my children to have a strong sense of individuality. I don't want them to feel that they have to be like me or anyone else for me to love them. My mum raised me and my siblings to be her clones and I had to fight against it during adolescence and do lots of soul searching to find out who I actually was. I want my kids to be themselves, to be secure in who they are and to develop their own personality traits, as well as their own set of values and beleifs and know that I will love them regardless.

Me, issues? Never! :p
