I'm not sure where to put this post, because I don't actually believe that my DS is teething, but I don't know what else is wrong with him. He's 9 weeks old and has always been an "angel baby". He sleeps well (seven hours at night), he plays for a little bit after day feeds and then naps, but this week he's been a terror. He has spells (usually in late afternoon and evening) where he just cries constantly. Cuddles, singing and rocking eventually calm him down (after a great deal of time) but I can't understand what's wrong with him. I don't think it's reflux because he doesn't carry on straight after feeds, and it only seems to be at night that he plays up. Any suggestions???
my friend welcome to the dreaded "witching hour"
Its quite common for babes to be usettled at the end of the day, often for no reason at all
some reasons it may be happening "could be"
- teething starting
- colic
- tiredness
- hunger (perhaps a growth spurt?)
- wanting affection
- NOT wanting affection (we found out the hard way with Ethan that he often just wanted to be left to play a bit rather than held...)
as you can see from the above list it may take you a while to work out what the problem is... you may never work it out.....
not much help i am sorry but BIG :hugs:

Argghh! I knew I shouldn't have been so pleased with my "angel baby"! The CHN kept warning me that they can change! He's still crying now, and has been since about 7.30. I feel bad leaving him in his cot, but there's nothing I can do for him and my ears are just buzzing after holding him for so long and being screamed at!
I've given him the colic drops (the Braer ones you gave me) so hopefully that will do something soon before I go crazy!!
If they dont calm him soon try a warm, deep bath
(by warm i mean as warm as you can have it thats acceptable for an infant and by deep i mean really let him float in it!)
this was recommended to us by the maternal child health number that i called once at 1am when Samuel was about 2mths old and i couldnt settle him... we did the bath then i gave him a feed and it was nighty-nite :D
good luck

Well, I finally got DS off to sleep at about 11pm. He woke again at 2am (which is unlike him - he has been sleeping through until 6am). I fed him, and again he carried on and wouldn't go down until about 3.30. He then woke again at 5.30am. What is going on? He's now happy as anything, gurgling under his play gym, but I know that when tonight comes, he'll be cranky again! Just venting now... I know there's not a lot I can do!:banghead: I've gone out every night for the past seven nights (just to parent's and friends' places). Could he be unsettled at the change in routine?

Could be .... perhaps try and stay home for a while and see if he resettles.
But really its probably just a phase.. hang in there.. being a mum is tough
