well they get you up the same day as having op, as long as no complications, so you'd be able to waddle for a fag after that or get wheeled outside. but i was hooked up to morphine the first day. im not a smoker but i think i was high enough on that iykwim.
i had a friend deliver vb and she had a epidural. she went straight outside for a fag even though she needed help standing:rolleyes:

I'm not a smoker...but I HAVE had a c-section...and I don't think there'd be ANY WAY I'd be able to make it outside to have a smoke during my hospital stay.

I had DD at 10.55am in the morning, and the next moring they got me up out of bed. (It was an elective...no labour, so I wasn't exhausted from that or anything). It was the most incredible pain I have ever felt, and I never wanted to move.

Over hte the next few days, I OBVIOUSLY had to move...so I did...but I took VERY SHORT SLOW STEPS and always had to LEAN on something (like a wall...or DD's crib...I'd push it around everywhere with me). I also had to use a hand to support my stomach...so it didn't hurt as much...

The only time I left the hospital was when I was going home...and that took me about half an hour to do.

I guess it depends on your determination, your pain thresh-hold (I normally have a pretty high one, but not with my c-sec pain!)...and whether or not you can get someone to watch your bub while you talk ages to get out there to smoke.
