HI!!!
Im 13weeks pregnant, and my 5yr old son has chicken pox (for the second time). The doctor believes myself and bub should be fine, as I have had chickenpox and my immunity should transfer to the baby.
Has anyone been in this situation? I know if a doc says its fine then I shouldn't be concerned but all Ive ever know is pregnant women should always avoid chicken pox!
help????

If you have had Chicken Pox and have a good immunity to it, then you won't get it again; therefore there will be no risk to bub.

If anything, the exposure to your son will help boost your immunity & reduce your risk of contracting shingles. :)

ETA: As a child, I had CP twice too, both times quite mild but I do have good immunity to it now.

Thanks heaps,
When my son came out with dots, my mum took him to the doctor and the doc pulled up all my blood test etc and said I had a good immunity. I just thought the baby could get effected without mum being effected, but that was an assumption.
Thanks heaps I feel alot more at ease

You are fine....

It is only of concern very early in pregnancy and at the very end of pregnancy.

I just had a baby and my daughter got a double strain of chicken pox 3 weeks before my due date.

My other baby wasnt old enough for his 18mth needles(chicken pox ones) so the hospital warned me that if bubs came early he would have had to be quarantined from him. He would have been born with no immunity.

All good tho, bubs didnt come early, so no need to worry...
