How to start? any advise would be great. Do you just put them in undies and explain it to them..meaning basically they wee and poo thier pants all day? or keep nappy on and lead to toilet 5oo times a day?? How do i approach this? How do you get them to stay on the potty long enough to do a wee to praise them for it? millions of questions is there a potty training how to book out there?

Firstly, wait until they are ready, not when you are ready.
I put them in undies (pullups are just nappies without grip tabs) and asked them every 10mins or so if they had to go potty. Reminders are especially important if they are busy watching tv or playing. When they do go, make a big deal out of it by jumping up and down and cheering, lol. Use a sticker chart or something and when they get say 10 stickers, they get a reward. Or just give them a jelly bean or something......kids will jump through hoops for junk food. ;)
If you are going out, leave them in undies, just sit them on a towel in their car seat and take a couple of changes of clothes.
HTH, good luck!!
We started our DD by putting her on the potty before baths etc. To keep her there for a while we'd give her something to play with or a book to read. Every so often she would accidentally have a wee on it and we would make a big fuss.
Does your little one watch other people going to the toilet? This also helps them get the idea of it. And if you hear them grunting with a poo, talk to them about the fact that they are doing a poo etc.
Kids will toilet train in their own time, but you probably want to save yourself some washing and start training while still in nappies. Even if it does mean 500 trips to the loo a day.
we started by takin off his nappy and letting him run wild when he would do a pee (this is why summer is great for this, you can do it outside) we would rush the potty over and show him that it goes in the potty. they get the idea pretty quick. then we would put him on the potty with a book after drinks or before baths and when they go, you just get really excited (like mousebrown said).
we also did the chart and gosh that sped things up! i don't like to give food rewards so he got a matchbox car after ten star stickers. everytime he went we would get so excited and say 'hey lets get you that star!' and soon he would be asking for the stars.
also, every tiem he would use the potty, we would pour the contents intot he toilet and let him flush it, he very quickly picked up that the toilet is the place to go and he started on it himself.
it took us two weeks for him to be fully toilet trained, with the exception of night time. thats where we are now.

We started by showing ds the potty and explained what it was for and left it next to the big toilet for a few days and took him in there to sit on it for a few minutes each day. We then started leaving the potty in one particular spot in the lounge area which in our house is tiled so a little accident didn't matter here and there. We just stripped him down and kept putting him on the potty every half hour until he got what he was supposed to do. When he did a wee we would make a big deal out of it lol. Once he knew what it was for we kept taking hime every half hour but i would ask him at least every 10 minutes if he needed to go potty. Then we got a little step stool and df showed him how to stand up and pee lol so we didn't use the potty after that we gradually got him to wearing his undies and not having any accidents.
As for night time df and cut a garbage bag and spread and taped it to his mattress like a makeshift mattress protector:o then put his sheets over i left the potty in his bedroom and he only had an accident the first night he has never had any accidents again!!! From start to finish it took us 2 months but we got slack in between because of xmas.
