Hi guys - hopeing someone can help reassure me that my DD will get better soon!
She had diarrhea all day yesterday - really bad. she hadn't eaten a great deal since fridays dinner & ate almost nothing yesterday, she just kept saying 'no' to everything we offered. she managed to drink to electrolyte drinks & water yesterday, but had an almost dry nappy this morning. But she has since had a 200ml electrolyte drink & another 200ml water. And maybe 3 bites of a dry cracker. She is back alseep again now, she is very sleepy, but wakes up OK if i wake her (i am paranoid that she will not wake). She has a slight temp of 37.6 & no rash, and is OK in bright light - but iam a bit worried about her finger tips - the are a bit purple like their is poor circilation. Meningicoccal scares the **** out of me, but there are no ohter symptoms - so i don't know if i am overreacting or not!
I am hesitant to take her to the local hospital unless i think she is really sick as they have had a bad outbreak of gastro last week & are telling people to stay away unless necessary.
Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks in advance - Tanya

I would take her IMMEDIATLY to the hospital. Either take her yourself or call an ambulance (then they can assess her at you home a bit to see if they should take her in).

I agree, if you are worried then its best to have it checked out, it sounds like she is very unwell.

i agree, it's scary how quickly littlies can get really sick, especially being dehydrated which is a huge possibility with gastro.
the good thing is that with the right medical attention they can also recover really quickly aswell.
good luck hope she is better soon

Thanks guys - I went to wake her to check on how she was again before i called the hospital, and she was sitting in her cot having a happy chat to herself.

Her face lit up when she seen me & she is now sitting with her dad eating some cruskits & drinking some more peadilyte. I think it looks like she is on the road to recovery.

I'll take her in if she doesn't eat anymore after this.
Thankyou!

If shes eating and drinking today Id see how you go.
If she was still the same as yesterday then Id definitely be saying take her.
Littlies dehydrate so quickly (DS was in hospital last year from dehydration thanks to gastro) but it sounds like shes bouncing back happily today.

Well despite looking so good this morning, she went back to sleep at 10:30, then woke at 1pm & refused to have anything to drink for the next hr.
She just kept saying 'no' & pushing the drink away. I called the GP health line & they said to try & drop it into her mouth with a medicine dropper, which she spat straight back out again.
So down to the hospital where she happily ate the iceblock they gave her, then drank some of her drink. It's always as soon as you get to the hospital that she picks up. lol. But at least she is much better now. They said she was not dehydrated, so to keep up the iceblocks, and now that she is home, she is drinking some juice. Not as good as water, but she doesn't get popper juice often - so i think it's a novelty. I'll try & fill the popper up with water when she's finished - hopefully that will trick her!

Thanks:thumbsup:
