DD is adorable and everyone is always telling me to get her into modelling. Where can I start, what are the things to look out for? costs? any info would be good.

Be wary.

The sign up costs to these agencies can be high. They tell you at the start that they won't guarantee any work, but the way they fuss over your child, you would think they are the next big thing.

I had my daughter signed up with an agency in Melbourne (don't know if I should say who). They took $600 and provided my with a photo card, access to her online portfolio which I could update (password protected) and we did one photo session for their talent catalogue which took 10 minutes. If you want to update anything at any time (photos, add clips to the website, upload articles or whatever) you have to pay for it yourself. I never added to it, because she got no work through them.

To continue membership after the first year, they wanted another $600, so I let it go. It was an expensive mistake. If I say so myself, my daughter is gorgeous, she has brown hair, it was curly then, olive skin and a really individual look. Maybe it's just me, but I think blond hair, blue eyes gets a lot more work.

If you can afford it, I would still recommend it. The agencies in WA may be better than here. Good Luck.
