just wanting to know if its ok to freeze breast milk in a ice block tray or does it need to be covered?
Hi there,
I froze mine in ice block trays, but I had these cool tuppawear ones, that actually have a lid on them and are completely sealed.
Might be able to get them on ebay a bit cheaper?
Otherwise I would make sure it was sealed when frozen

I wud cover them somehow. I stored mine in open trays and had to throw them out coz they ended up looking not right...

ive done some research and seems to be its ok as long as you cover them with cling wrap or something and then once froozen store in a snap lock bag.

I think it's better to store it in snap lock bags. You can buy special BM storage bags, Swisspers is a good brand. It's just easier for thawing and more hygienic.

i use snack size snap lock bags. i fill up with about 100 mls and remove as much air as i can then seal and freeze flat. that way when its frozen i can stand it up in a lunch box in the freezer. makes it easier to use the earliest date first. defrosting is also pretty easy. i just po the bag into a bowl of hot tap water til its warm enough to pour into the bottle and drink. takes about 10 minutes and because its flat it heats quicker. i do change the water after 5 minutes tho so its hot.
oh and i try to get the bags with the white writable label on the front so i can write the date on it.
