Brief story, DH and I had been TTC no 3 for around 1 yr with no luck so we stopped trying I have now focussed on furthering my career yadda yadda yadda. I also have severe endo, polycystic ovaries etc which is why we have not been able to get pregnant (my first 2 miracles were conceived years of trying). So Wednesday morning I am off to hospy for yet another Laser Lap and this time my gyno has recommended I have a Mirena IUD put in as since I had DD 3 yrs ago I have been hemroghing every month when I get my AF :(. The Mirena can help with the heavy bleeding, but I dont know if I want it put in as I still really want another baby and the best time to TTC is after a laser lap. Grrr so confussed I want another child, I want my career and I dont want the heavy bleeding to return. It just does not feel right and I have 2 days left to decide what I want to do I dont know if I am just freaking out about having a contraceptive device put in me when inside my head I know I have major fertility problems. Anyway thanks for listening just a little rant :ecomcity:

Hehe, i am sure the rant helps things but the sounds of your frustrations, maybe you could hold out of getting the contraception for a little while, like have not a planning try just try after you go for the laser and seeing if it happens for you then you, arn't left wondering what if i just tried after the laser i could have been pregnant type of thing? You can only do what you are happy with i am just making a suggestion, and ofcourse you could plan and try but i think with how much you want a third child and i said just have contraception you may not like that response and that in itself should tell you, that you in your heart you have already made your decision IYKWIM. Let me know what you decide and i hope i helped in some way=)

Awww :hugs: hun. It must be so confusing for you at the moment. I am a fellow PCOS sufferer and if I were in your position I would hold out on getting the mirena and try for another bub.

We have also agonised over having a 3rd and we decided to try in March. Fell pregnant in June, then miscarried in August. At the 11 week ultrasound - bub had no heartbeat - measured 8weeks 6 days. I also love my job and this was a major concern for us - but since losing this one, we have decided to give it one last try. Feeling a bit sick right now at 8DPO so really hoping this is it! Our DD's (5 and 3) would love to have a sister/brother and I can't believe how fast the last 3 years have gone - the next 3 until I return to work again will go so quickly but we will have our family forever...

Good luck with your decision...

What is a Laser Lap?
I would hold off having the Mirena put in & I would TTC as soon as you can after the Laser Lap...Hopefully you will get a BFP & you won't have to worry about the heavy bleeding again until after bub arrives & then have the Mirena to help with your bleeding. If you have put up with the heavy bleeding for 3 yrs then I would wait it out just a little bit longer if it isn't putting you in danger. Good Luck :).

I wouldn't be getting the Mirena done after the OP.

Your GP can insert the Mirena for you should decide later on to get it done.

I had one in for almost 3 years. After having it removed my periods were really heavy for 2 days then light for 2 days, so may not do anything for the heavy bleeding. Some months (whilst the IUD was in) I had heavy bleeding as well.

Not sure if its related but it took DF & I a while to get pregnant after having the IUD removed. I had it removed October 2008 and we got pregnant Dec 2008 and miscarried, March 2009 miscarried, June 2009 miscarried and then had a chemical pregnancy September 2009. We stopped trying and just went with the flow & finally got a successful sticky BFP in January 2010. Not sure if it had anything to do with the Mirena but I never had any fertility issues prior to the Mirena.

At the end of the day I would wait. You can always get your GP or OBGYN to put it in later on. Maybe TTC again after having the OP and give it a few cycles and if nothing have the Mirena inserted in the New Year??
