Hi

A couple of questions
1. I have a mixture of pockets and terry flats, is it ok to wash them together combined with the inserts, or do I wash them separately?
2. I have read here but cant find it, what do I use to wash if I dont want to wash with detergent. I remember baking soda or vinegar or am I making this up?

Thanks, Mel:)
PS Thank you girls who have enlightened me on the modern cloth nappy, wish I had known about these before, would never have used the terry cloth from the beginning (they're not that bad though). Am waiting on my new GK's and then they post new patterns today, oh my gosh!!!!

HI

!. Yes!! I do!! Just make sure the velcro tabs are turned in to reduce fluff sticking to it

2. Bicarb, not vinegar :)

I wash all mine together too.. def make sure the tabs are turned in tho.. I made the mistake of not doing that with some new covers :S

Bicarb is great :D not vinegar tho as I think it can ruin some of them?

I wash all my nappies together - as mentioned, fold back the velcro/aplix tabs and if you have any 'special' fleece nappies put them in a seperate smalls bag to prevent them going pill-y. I wash on 40C in my frontloader with just a bit less than recommended amount of OMOmatic, a prewash, soak and sometimes extra rinse options. Never had a stain this way and they come off the line smelling sweet :)

I personally wouldn't use bicarb because it can 'eat' away at the elastic (but if you do, only wash on cold). Vinegar should be avoid if you are washing PUL because it will deteriorate that and should also be avoided with MM fleece. And definitely never use vinegar and bicarb together because it will destroy the fabric. They are the general rules. I use vinegar in the prewash occassionally (once every 3 months maybe) when my PUL pockets get a bit whiffy.
