Hi  ,
Do you pray or say a blessing with your kids at bedtime?
If so, do you know any great blessings or rhymes that are great for bedtime prayers?

I would like to start saying bedtime prayers with my DD as an introduction into teaching her to prey. My Grandma used to say lovely rhyming prayers when I was little but I cant remember them.

:hugs: Thanks Friends!

There are four corners on my bed,
There are four angels at my head.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
Bless the bed I sleep on. Amen.

Also found this website called 'Prayer Gardens'...looks like it's got some lovely bedtime prayers for children

thats a nice one mamaduke!

Bub2luv....how old is your DD? Mine is 16 months, is this too early to start teaching her prayers?

Another good one I think is "As I lay me down to sleep" prayer. I think that mamduke's one is much better for littlies though.

Here's another version (less dramatic!) of "Now I lay me down to sleep"...

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray Thee, Lord, thy child to keep:
Thy love guard me through the night
And wake me with the morning light.

My DS has a teddy bear (prayer bear) that says a rhyme VERY similar (yet another version)

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
Let angels watch me through the night
Until I wake in the morning light

we have a prayer doll- shes a beautiful doll with hair and pink dress and when you hold her hands together she says that "now i lay the down to sleep" prayer.

we also got a keyring of the doll a few years ago and you push her button and she says it.

we started with this simple one at bedtime from newborn.

goodnight, dear God, now i must sleep,
ill close my eyes and slumber deap.
i know you watch me from above,
and cover me with your sweet love.
amen

and this one in the morning

thankyou, God, for this great day!
the sun is up, and i must say,
im as happy as can be
for each new day you give to me.
amen

these came from a book called- baby's first book of prayers.

these are my favs from this little book- i used from day one with my youngest - and he now knows them and can say them along with me.

its never too early to start
