i was told recently that babies born during regular sleeping hours (ie. 10pm-6am) are terrible sleepers and babies born during awake hours are good sleepers. I figured it was just my friend trying to make me feel better about ozzy's inability to sleep through the night until i started asking other mums about it. I have asked about 15 mums with about 20 kids of various ages between them and so far it's been completely 100% acurate
so in the interest of research, i thought i'd ask all you fine ladies and gents: born at night, won't sleep tight or born during the day, sleeps all the way???
:)

looks fairly random so far, only a slight bias towards the theory! for the record, ozzy was born at 1.03 a.m. and, as anyone who has read any of my posts knows, is an absolutely deplorable sleeper! good thing he's so cute and charming when he's awake :D

I've got one of each - one born around 1pm, the other 11pm ... they've both been pretty similar in their nighttimes (started off good, got shocking around 6 months, then recovered)

I'm afraid I'm no help for your theory at all!

I was born at 2:20pm and mum says i slept right through every night  Hoepfully mine is the same :fingerscrossed: hehee.

I cant remember what it is called, but there is some term for it, being the reason as to why if a baby is born at night, it will sleep thru and when older is not a "morning person"

I am not a morning person and myself and my friends had this discussion a few years back and we came to the conclusion it must be somewhat true as everyone born afterrnoon/evening and night is the same as me.. maybe coincedence...

If i only i could remember the term for it... damn maternal sleep , or .. meh cant remember .. sorry

it'd be something to do with those circadian rhythms or whatever they are, i reckon. i was born at 3am and was a shocking sleeper and am still way more of a night owl than a morning person, despite ozzy making me get up between 5 and 6 every day to start the day!

Id disagree - my first was born at 3am.. and she was the best sleeper of them all..
the other two were born at 730pm and 930pm and hardly ever slept at night.
I was often up until 11pm trying to get them down for the night, and even then they'd be awake at least 4 times before morning.

My dear little one was born at 01.55am and for the first 5 days or so had her nights and days mixed up - she slept longer during the day and was awake during the night but when I got home I made sure that when she napped during the day it was with the curtains open (so sunlight was in the room) and I was never quiet during the day.

By 6 weeks she slept through the night!! And so did I for the first time in more than a year!!!!!
