Has anyone here experienced sudden swelling on fingers or feet?

I'm not sure if it's normal...although I know some women get puffy due to water retention.

Only weird thing is that one day I noticed that my fingers were puffy (I had to take my ring off). At the end of the day they were normal. Yesterday, my fingers went puffy again (just on the left hand) and after a couple of hours, was back to normal.

And then right now, I noticed my left foot is puffier than the right. So, it comes and goes. Is that normal?

This morning, when I woke up, my left eye was puffy (but more like the like of puffiness that you get when you have a cold--well I have been congested lately).

Anyone else experience this?

I'm worried that it might be a symptom of pre-enclampsia (though my doctor checks my blood pressure everytime I see her and it's all good). But as far as I know, pre-enclampsia symptoms like swelling doesn't just disappear, right?

I hope it's just water retention and my being on my bum most of the day. Gawd! I have to walk around more!!!

im nearly 31 weeks and have just started getting puffy feet/ankles. it comes on about lunch time and stays till the next morning. its called oedema and common in pregnancies. puffiness is a sign of pre eclampsia but as long as your blood pressure is fine you should be right.

I suffered this alot during my last pg. from about 30 weeks.

I had alot of fluid retention, but I always went and checked it out with my dr. as i was nervous about pre eclampsia etc.

I had two ultrasounds too check that everything was ok as one dr. i saw thought i may have deep vein throbosis(sp)

But it just turned out to be a fluid thing,

Check it out just to be on the safe side :)

Hi Honeydoll, I definately had it with all my pregnancies except my last, if I had been up & about all day it would be worse by the afternoon/evening or if the weather was hot Id look like I had flippers instead of feet! With DS 3 I could only wear thongs toward the end of my pregnancy as my feet wouldnt fit in anything else & I couldnt wear rings for most of my PG too.
The midwives usually check for swelling at each visit, but if you are concerned maybe check with them or your GP.

Thanks for your replies!

I woke up not long ago and checked my feet out...Still puffy but not as puffy as last night! At least now, my left foot is shaped like a foot! . Last night it was like SpongeBob with stubby fingers on top!!!

I'll definitely keep an eye on the symptoms....I guess I'll just have to top up my water intake to lessen the retention, lessen the salt in my diet :)

Thanks again!
