I got my green kids on tuesday :smiliedance: and I washed them like they said but they are leaking out of ds2's legs. Could this be because the lining isn't folded in properly? Or because he is so little? I also found that it is very bulky on him with him being so small. He only weighs 5kg atm.I was thinking of maybe using a smaller booster in them, maybe making my own.

Hello,

You will proberly get the standard questions in the replies to your post. So here I go :D

How many times have you washed the hemparoo inserts? Hemp can take up to 10 washes to reach a good absorbancy.

Perhaps you may have used a little too much washing powder in your wash? You only need the teeniest amount.

Pop the Hemparoo in an old pillow case and tie it off and keep throwing it in with your washes. It will get washed plenty of times and you won't be wasting excess water.

Also in regard to the bulkiness.....try folding the hemparoo into 4's rather than the trio. I found it was not as bulky in the crotch for my DD that way plus it was a little bit more absorbant.

Lastly, email Sasha or Ruth at GreenKids if you have any pressing questions, they know their product and will be able to give you expert advice too.

Good luck

I have washed them about 5 times each now but have only used them once each.

I used about 1/4 or less of a scoop in the wash the first time then the next 2 times I washed them I didn't use any powder.

I think I will put them in the pillow case.

But I thought they had to be washed in either warm or hot water?? Cold water is fine??

If I keep having problems I will contact them.

Thank you clm for your help.

Sorry, I can't comment on the cold water bit, I have always washed in hot or warm.
Wish I could be of more help.

They may be a bit too big for bub. While bub is so small you can use your greens as a cover over a terry flat instead of a pocket. Maybe try that till bub grows?

Cold water washing is fine, as long as you line dry in the sun

But yes, email Ruth or Sasha, they are great & will help with any questions

Thanks girls. I tried them again today and it worked fine untill DP decieded to check and see if he had done a #2 and didn't do it back up tight enough. He fell asleep and slept for 3 hours and he had leaked every where. All over his clothes. I think I might need to teach DP how to put them on.
I am always washing the inserts in hot water now. I just throw the pockets in with the normal wash.

I too was having problems with the bulkiness...my DD is just under 7 kgs and someone suggested just using the microfibre insert and this works perfectly for us...much trimmer!

OMG me too!
i find that by morning, ds is wet around his waist. the hemp absorbs well, but somehow it leaks out the top. and the PUL fabric is wet on the outside! it is turning me off what i thought was a great nappy:( ds is pretty skinny, could it be that there is too much space around the waist? it only occurs when he wears it overnight, not during the day

faery .. is it an anytime or a funtime??? the funtimes will wick (the fabric gets wet on the outside ) if left on for too long.. e.g. overnight .. which is why the anytimes are better for long sleeps ..

if it IS an anytime.. I have to ask if the insert is sticking out the top/??

I have been using Greenkids for 7 months now .. and have only had them wick a few times .. once I tucked the singlet into the nappy (DER) and once the insert was sticking out .. otherwise .. it has only been due to Jack unexpectely napping .. lol

I hope that helps..

hmmmm
i'll have to check if the hemp and things are sticking out. i hadn't noticed but maybe. and it as an anytimes I'm using.
dp usually gets ds ready for bed, so i'll have to sus out what he is doing with the singlet, maybe he is tucking.
