Collecting peoples experiences of when they stopped contraception.

Hi Everyone,

Well mum2girls reminded me of one of the little projects that I wanted to do. When I first came off the pill, I really wanted to know what I should expect, but I couldn't find enough info anywhere on the web, so what I'd like to do is collect up some experiences of different women and post them on the webpage I am doing which is a collection of the useful info I have come across so far (one of the pros of being at TTC so long I guess) (http://members.optusnet.com.au/ttcweb/FAQ)

If you'd like to share your experiences with everyone, I am sure it'd be greatly appreciated. I thought these would be good catagories so you can find other people in similar circumstances to compare yourself with.

Type of contraception (e.g. mini combined pill) - if known: Mini combined (gee I wonder how I thought of that example!!)

How long it took to conceive (or how long have you been trying): 7mths and still trying
Describe your symptoms when you stopped:
(ok taking out all the little niggles that made me believe I "really was" pg each month)
1st month: CL 34; LP:13;
Constantly creamy CM, itchy nipples
2nd month: CL:30; LP:12
Constantly crying, small lactations from one bb, CM had settled down, but a bit light on the fertile CM.
3rd month: CL:32 LP:15
Still a few lactations, CM much the same, maybe a bit more fertile CM.

Libido came back around Cycle 6. :)

Now: usual CL 33-35 days; usual LP 15/16 days

Describe your symptoms when you stopped:

1st cycle: 28 days, LP 13
2nd: 29 days, LP 13
3rd: 25 days, LP 13

Libido: never got it!

Normal now: 26-27 days, LP 13

Type of contraception (e.g. mini combined pill) - if known: Not sure? But i have since found out that apparently its a "low dose" one, if thats relevant?

How long it took to conceive (or how long have you been trying): i wasn't trying, it just failed to work.
Describe your symptoms when you stopped: I went on it to stop skin breakouts (which it did) and when i stopped my skin broke out a little. But i don't know if this is because i stopped the pill or because of pregnancy hormones.

Describe your symptoms when you stopped: No periods for 3 months (acupuncture fixed that), some wait gain, quite bad acne for a month and then it settled down.

let me see.. when i stopped contraception before trying for first daughter...
my age: 22yrs (at the time)

symptoms: none, i was fine, af got regular after about 3months
time took to concieve:5months

didnt take it agian after first daughter.. went on mini pill, didnt agree with me.. then got pregnant with second daughter.. after that, have been on monofeme eversince

1st cycle:Not much cm, 28days before af
2nd cycle:very tender bb, 28 days
3rd cycle:very tender bb, bad cramps, 37days.
I did notice that i got my libido back pretty much straight away. Also i dont have lost the 'yellow' look in my skin (or so a few people have told me).

I have been charting for 5 months (this month) and had an anovulatory cycle last month ... grrr. We are going to see a fertility herbalist after this month if no BFP.

Describe your symptoms when you stopped: painful stomach cramps, PMT much worse than usual and just lasted forever, stomach bloating, sore boobs, acne

1st cycle: 6 weeks, AF for 4 days
2nd: 30 days, AF for 2 days

Libido: Improved since stopping!

Symptoms when stopped: Well, I stopped cause I was getting hives all over my body everyday for about the last 6 mnths of taking it and we couldn't work out what it was cause it followed no pattern with the sugar pills etc, but when I stopped taking it at the sugar pills I had my period and hives for about 6 days and then haven't had hives since, but did fall pregnant the first cycle......

fell preg with DS2 after fully stopped bf DS1 and after him wasn't able to find a pill to stop me bleeding.....was having period 3 out of 4 weeks sometimes more. Had a Mirena IUD put in - made symptoms slightly worse and added headaches...... Have now had a hysterectomy as the gyno said my body simply couldn't metabolise my hormones (via pill or natural ones).... best thing I ever did!!! :smiliedance:

Cycle straight after stopping as i took upto the sugar pills was weird as i got my normal period but 6 days later got another 3 days of light bleeding...Don't know if i ovulated..This cycles period is very light and came 2 days late...

Describe your symptoms when you stopped: No period for 3 months (Vitex seemed to fix that up but cycles still v irregular), no change to skin for 3 months, then moderate acne (enough to make me miserable!) ever since.
