Hi - DS has got the worst burnt botty . It is almost blistered in parts. :crying:

We think it came from a friend giving him apple juice or possibly peanut butter.

But that aside .... any suggestions as to what we could put on it to soothe it and heal it??

cheers

Cornflour - will help dry it out and help it to heal quickly. If you use something to keep the moisture on it (like a barrier cream) it will just keep it wet and moist and it wont heal.

Poor bubba - hope his bottom is better fast (I found that cornflour healed my DS's raw and bleeding nappy rash within 24hrs, to the point where you could only just see where it had been bleeding!)

Peanut butter???? Are they crazy? Or just stupid? A mixture of both perhaps.

 Not good. Your poor little man. Id keep up the baths and let him have lots of kicks to air out the area. Like roxy said, dont use a barrier cream. good lucky matey :fingerscrossed:

Sorry but what is so stupid or crazy about giving a child peanut butter especialy as the child is well over 1 years old.

Personly I think Paw paw ointment is the best

All the studies show now that children shouldnt eat peanuts until they are over 5!! Sorry i didnt mean to offend but there are so many kids dying of problems associated with peanuts, its really quite scary!

I've also heard that no peanuts until 5!

CORNFLOUR! It worls wonders. I tried everything for my DS bottom includ sudocream (was a #1 in my books) but even that didn't work. 24hrs of a cornflour paste at every nappy change and it was all cleared up. If I had known that to start off with, I wouldn't have wasted my time with everything else!

ummmm, actually i dont remember...
it may well be, but i never found it to keep moisture in like other creams, we rarely had bad nappy rash etc, except the few times they had diarrhoea from being sick & it would take a whole layer skin off etc, it would clear it up in less than 24 hours!!

i found it very different to all the creams other mums told me to use like Bepanthen etc - i thought they were **** because they truly did hold moisture in & allowed no healing...

?????

lucyp have you tried the sudocream? It might just work, cos come to think of it we have used that and never had problems but your little man sounds like his might be a tad sore and i just dont want to put somthing on there that might sting....

Let us know how you go.

Hi thanks - we have put antiseptic Bepanthan on it and also some corn flour. Very nasty looking though.

\He is not allergic to peanuts that we know of and has had peanut butter before - with a bit of diahoreah (sP) but no burning. I think its a combo deal with the adult apple juice....

I cannot seem to pin it down to anything else -because all other meals that day - I gave him he has had before except for what our friends say they gave him.

Hopefully its a nice day tomorrow and he can have a little nappy free itme - ooo looks so sorry poor poppet.. Thanks everyone :)

Warm face washers instead of baby wipes until rash clears

Regular nappy-free time

and then this magic stuff calledDAKTOZIN

Not only is it antiseptic, cooling and soothing but it's anti-fungal which is what moist, warm areas need to get rid of nappy rash. It's not overly moisturising and doesn't rub off as soon as you put the nappy back on. Rash gone in 24hrs max.
I swear this has worked everytime for my 2 kids who are both suceptable to nappy rash.

Okay I used to swear by leaving the nappy off completely all day. And i used to read mums going on about this daktozin stuff and i was like 'yeah but nothing is better than fresh air I say' .

Then last time DD had REALLY bad nappy rash, and i mean burnt, i bought some of this creme and within 24 hours her burnt botty had pretty much healed up!!! I really couldn't believe it!!! Now i cant stop raving about it!!!
Go and buy some now i say!!

I have to second paw paw cream! It has worked a treat on DS. He had the blistery nappy rash from teething, it also bled in a few spots, that was yesterday, today it isnt even pink! and his tooth hasnt come through yet! Was using one a midwife recommended but that did nothing and is the only time DS has had nappy rash this bad.... anyways paw paw cream is the best thing in the world for us.

Hope your poor little mans bum heals really really fast! Also think the warm washers are a good idea. Good luck!

I have also heard the 'no peanuts til 5yrs' thingy...but I heard it was any whole nuts and it was coz kids under 5 could still choke on them really easily.

I also recommend Papaw ointment for your poor bubs botty  I used it on DS when he had a blistery & bleeding rash and it cleared up within 24hrs.
