4 month old, breast fed, hasnt pooed in 3 days???

hi, just a question if its normal for a breastfed baby to go numerous days without doing a poo? she usually does a poo a day, but its been 3 days. is this normal or should i see a dr?

Totally normal. Up to 10 days is normal, actually :) My DS was a once every 7-10 day-er and it was SO GOOD lol!
I'm not a professional or anything though :)

It's completely normal for breastfed babies but if they are formula fed or having solids, then you should go and see a doctor.

My DS1 was a 10-14dayer...OMG the smell of his rotten farts the few days buliding up to that poo were horrendous...the smell would literally stick in your clothes if you were near him when he would fart. Just watch out for the megapoo to come though.
Sorry I should of just said NORMAL for a b/f bubba.

Lol ds was fully breast fed and ONLY went once every 8-10days. When he went though he went lol filling 3 nappies at a time. Had to quickly put him on the change table and the fun would begin. 10mins later and a good bath was needed along with a big load of washing everytime lol good luck

I was told 7-10 days is normal for a purely bf baby. Once you go to formula, every 2 days or more.

There's a huge variation of normal frequency, but just because it's normal for one baby not to poo more than every 9 days if your baby hasn't pooed and its day 3 and it normally poos daily then keep an eye on them...

Maybe try prune juice if you're worried and would like to get things moving? Mixed with water in a cup or bottle of water. It doesn't take much, just a few mls in 10 mls of water a few times a day gets it going!

But I'd probably wait a few more days and watch your bub, if bubs happy then it's probably alright and will sort itself out! Good luck and watch out for the eventual explosion :laughing:

I always noticed my little boy developed really bad constipation whenever I decreased the amount of fruit I was eating (bf bub) you know what they say - an apple a day.... maybe eat a few extra pieces of fruit yourself can't hurt??!!

great, thanks for all that. i actually thought b/f babies did a poo more often then formula babies.
she did however do a poo i think wed or thursday. but hasnt done another since, so 1 poo in a week i guess is fairly normal.
i used to give my eldest prune juice when she didnt poo for a couple of days, but she was bottle feed and i gave her the juice after she had started eating some solids, so wasnt sure if i could give this one prune juice yet, as she is not quite 4 months old, and plan on not feeding her solids until about 5 - 6 months.
