Hi lovely ladies ,
just got back from seeing my middy and i told her ive been getting pretty dizzy when i get up and sometimes ill be standing there and just get lightheaded and i fell over the other day because when i stood up and took a step and got super dizzy and tripped but luckily fell onto the recliner.
She said my blood pressure is quite low it was 90/50 this morning and she checked it a few times while i was there and it stayed the same, it was also this when i had to stay in hospital. To be honest im happier i have this because with my other two ive always had the opposite and had hypertension and this scares me alot less than the other  im just wondering if you girls have any tips, and what happens if it gets lower?

Best tip is to keep very well hydrated. Drink loads and loads of water!
And get up slooooowwly. Always.
I've got low blood pressure at the moment and just about fainted while making breakfast. DH had to carry me to the couch. I also had the opposite for my first and was hospitalised and medicated for high BP, much scarier!
Basically when I feel dizzy I sit and get up and down slowly. I eat small amounts of food regularly and keep my water intake up. Try not to over do it and take things very easy. I also have varicose veins, morning sickness and torn tendons so it's not hard to take it easy . If you're feeling dizzy sit down with your head between your legs and take deep breaths.
Good luck xx
:iagree: and eat often!
I had low BP with both DD's and my gawd its so annoying!!!! nothing ever went wrong, although i spent a lot of time laying down, and getting up slowly. i also felt quite breathless a lot of the time, even in very early pregnancy.
Standing in the warm/hot shower would make me feel like i was going to pass out, so i put a plastic step stool thing in to sit on.
having said all of that, this pregnancy i havent had it AT ALL!!! go figure???
good luck, hope you feel ok. :)
I had very low BP with my first two pregnancies, and lowish with my 3rd. My best tip was to wiggle my feet for half a minute or so before getting up slowly, just gently rotate them in circles. It helps circulate the blood a bit before the almighty rush to the head!
I know it's a PITA (in my first pregnancy I was just falling over everywhere, restaurants, supermarket, fun!) but at least you know it's not harmful in terms of your pregnancy.

90/50 is quite normal for me. I've always had low blood pressure and have had this whole pregnancy as well. Drink lots of water and eat salt is what I've always been advised...

ohhh thanks ladies!!! Lots of great tips!!!
I get breathless all the time too my daughter said i sound like a train  i have been trying to drink 1.5-2.5 litres of water per day to help with my pre term contraction issues so ill keep on drinking and ill try and eat smaller more regular meals insteads of three meals plus deesert most nights because i have no self control
So do i eat more salt and if so how much more? the middy said something about salt is also something i could try but never elaborated so i wasnt sure if she meant dont eat it or eat more, ill go google it :detective:
Rest sounds good i was on bedrest untill recently but as the doctor said i could go on holidays ive started doing more because i feel that if i can travel overseas im sure cleaning around the house isnt that much of an issue i just make sure to sit more when i get tired but legs up and tv on sounds quite nice especially as its already mid 30's here every day and by next week should be getting closer to low 40's :crying:
its so funny how im normally the healthiest person and with every pregnancy its changes my body so much i mean i know its doing heaps of extra work but its also interesting that my other two kids i had hypertension with were from my ex husband and this baby who im having with my new partner is totally opposite and low blood pressure
Once again thanks ladies :yelclap:

Low bp - PITA!!!!!!
I've got a heart condition that causes me to always have low BP....
Salt - upping ur intake with just adding a bit extra to meals (go iodized sea salt as it's much less refined)
If u are having a particularly bad day/spell add some salt to water and drink it down (don't add too much otherwise it will go straight through u)
Drinking mineral water is recommended too as it has natural salts
Compression stockings will help the blood from pooling in ur legs
I feel like a chicken half the time (standing up for more than a minute will put me on the floor if I'm notcareful) so I constantly 'pump' my legs to get the blood moving still (a PP mentioned this)
Take ur time getting up as to change ur bp slowly not a fast drop which will end u up on the floor
Sleep as much as u can - I find the tireder I am the worse my bp is
HTH a bit xoxox
