Hi mums!
Just wondering if any of you can help...
My bub doesn't seem to want to drink water in between his feeds! He will drink maybe 20mls (if i am lucky) then realise it isn't milk and will refuse to take anymore.
Should I be worried or just leave it til he starts drinking out of a sippa cup?
He isn't showing any signs what so ever of dehydration, it is just that people keep telling me that I should be adding a water bottle in between his milk feeds...

The only times I gave Chloe a bottle of water when she was under 6 months old was on very hot days in the summer when I knew she'd been sweating alot. If the formula is mixed correctly and bub isn't constipated he shouldn't need extra water. If you're still concerned you could offer diluted fomula instead of just water, but don't give him much and not as a substitute for a regular bottle since then he'd be missing out on the good stuff he needs.

Oh i am not skipping any of his formula feeds, don't you worry about that!!! :)
The old water debate!! My Mum has been nagging me to start giving Eleni water... One of her poos was a little more "stodgy" than normal one day - and OMG! Mum didn't mean to, but she made me feel like a negligent mother for dehydrating my child!! I had never felt the need to give Eleni water - she feeds well, wees well and is healthy... I have succumbed to the "grandmother guilt trip" though :o - I've tried Eleni on some water, but she is not particuarly interested - I just figure she's getting all she needs - just as I thought!!
Cheers!

Thanks Miranda, I was beginning to feel the same! Like Isaid Ryan's poos have always been normal and he isn't showing any signs that he is lacking anything... However we are travelling up to Townsville in December (I know hottest time of the year but that is where our family is!) and I know he will be needing the extra fluids then, but i am hoping he will learn to love water instead of wanting juice...
Don't worry Nathan has only just started drinking water at 10mths. I had a lot of trouble getting him to drink it out of a bottle or sipper cup but he wasn't dehydrated so I wasn't too worried. It does seem to be a thing our mothers use to do when we were babies.
good luck
My baby is nearly 7 months and I've never given her extra water. I guess I'm "generous" with the measurements i.e for 180mls makeup, I usually put 190mls water......but that's about it. Never have had any problem with constipation either.

If he never has juice he won't want it. How easy is that! :) We've always given DD water, she's had diluted juice perhaps twice since she's turned 1. She prefers water.
