My little man is 12 weeks old today and has been on Losec for about 6 weeks for his reflux. It seems to be working fairly well, but still throws up regularly. He also has a cows milk protein allergy and so is on Ele Care formula which we have to thicken with an organic baby rice cereal.
We can't give him water or medicine or anything thinner than his formula because he just throws it back up.

I'm just wondering if anyone elses reflux baby is sleeping through the night?
My little man has a long sleep during the day, around 4 to 5 hours, has a bath and feed and back to bed about half 6. He wakes at around midnight for a feed, and then sleeps for another 4hours, waking around 4am and is then awake right up until midday.

He only poo's every 5 days also.

We've tried everything to get him sleeping longer, sleeping through the night etc but nothing is working. We've been referred to the Ellen Baron Centre but i'm wondering if the not sleeping through has to do with his reflux or just him, or what.

What is your baby doing?

12 weeks old is still extremely young. Even babies without reflux will still be waking every 4 hours at this age.

As for him pooing every 5 days, it could be because Elecare is already broken down a lot so he is absorbing more of it but it also could mean that he is constipated. Does it bother him? What is it like when he does poo, is it soft or hard?

I wish my reflux bub would sleep as well as yours!! Seriously, you have it great!!

Reflux bubs are pretty notorious for being crappy sleepers ...

I would also recommend NOT using controlled crying methods as extended crying can aggravate the reflux ...

Im sorry but it may not be the reflux! My DD is 10 months and has only just started sleeping through. Up untill about 3 weeks ago she was waking 4 hourly overnight.

Youhave to remember they have tiny tiny tummies so they need to feed more often. Also reflux babies tend to feed smaller amounts more often.

The best advice I can give is dont worry about sleeping through. Babies sleep through when they are ready. I personlly dont think theres anything you can do to make them sleep through before they are ready

ETA Your doing a great job. Reflux bubs are hard work!

Im brand new to Bubhub, this is my first post...if it works. My 10.5 week old boy has reflux too and is currently on Zantac, he wakes every 2hrs for a feed and its killing me. I have heard and read heaps of great findings of what chiro does for babies.

I am looking for a good peadiatric chiropractor for my baby as they can help with the reflux and crappy sleeping patterns.

Will let you know how i go!!
