My DD has always had eczema and we've tried everything.
Hers have actually been open bleeding wounds and then they heal (in warmer weather) and then get worse again in winter.

We've done the Dermeze, Sigmacort, Aquatril (something like tht it was called.. it was useless whatever it was! ) and now...
I swear by something i a naturopath in a health food store recommended.

It's called:
Calendulis Plus Cream (it's supposed to be all natural ingredients) :smiliedance:
For the relief of eczema and psoriasis.

DD's wounds have covered up and no more bleeding.

I have also been using it on 8 month old DS for 2 days now. He has developed eczema on his legs, behind knees and around ankles (were at a point of weeping couple days ago).
After 2 day of constant application (virtually every nappy change), his legs are much smoother, softer and all that yukky rough top layer and coming off his skin. :D
I am overjoyed.

I recommend it for anyone who feels lost about what to try next.

I would love to hear how others go with it if they have or do try it.
Good luck. (and here's hoping it keeps getting better for them all!)

Hi Lut!

Yup I've tried Calendulis cream (Graham's one right) on myself when I have eczema but it didn't do much for me :crying: but seems to work well on the little one. Maybe my harsh old weathered elephant skin needs a bit more strength - I found Dermaid to work on me for a little while. I also used the Graham's Bath oil for my baby's dry skin and cradle cap and it helped her a lot. Once again it was like water off a duck's back for me. :o

The thing that I have found with eczema is that some products work on some and not on others - Or maybe it's just me - my skin may have become immune to them

But yay it working for you!! It's always a celebration when something finally works!!!

Where did you get the cream from? I'd love to try some on DS.

hi my DS had/has eczema not as bad now i used to put paw paw ointment on it in winter and for summer i use aloe vera straight off the plant. I tried all the different creams but nothing really worked on him apart from these 2. I'm glad you found something that works for your kids as it is awful to see them in pain

You can get the cream from any health food shop - I've also seen it in Chemist Warehouse although not all chemists stock them so you can ask first but definately in health stores.

I also tried the paw paw ointment and it works brilliantly on my little one's scratches (she scratches a lot when she is itchy and has dry skin) but the ointment isn't as wonderful for me. :(

I don't know the product but from the sound of it, it contains Calendula in one form or another. Any product containing calendula and/or calendula infused oil is great for eczema, so if anyone is looking for a product and this one didn't work, try another calendula product. It really is fantastic stuff.

Sorry.. i've been away all day.. just got back.
Mum2Jacob-
Yep, like Bigglet said, I got them from health food shop.
It IS the Graham's one.
It's a yellow and purple labelled jar.

I also use the "soap" of the same brand on DD, and I use Gaia Naturals for DS's baths... they are great, but obviously any bath just dries him up, so he gets Calendulis cream after it.

It really is a relief, because I was sick of all the cortisones Drs keep forcing on me. Theya re so little and I know how bad cortisone is on anyone, let alone such fresh new skin. :(

I do find that if I don't apply it regularly until it heals totally, it seems to come back again.

Bigglet- I'm sorry you haven't been able to find anything for your own relief hun. :hugs:
Mum always had very bad ezcema(itchy and then would get broken skin) and the only thing that relieved hers was aloe vera, like MumofMadd said.

I use the Bath Oil for DD and i use the soap bar for me from the grahame range, it's a yellow and purple label and you can get it at the chemist or health food shops, but i have found they only stock some of the range and different stores stock different things.

Works Brillant

I'm going to call DH and ask him to pick up some of this stuff on the way home, Lut. DD has got excema behind her ears, over the earlobe and across her cheeks- underneath the lobe it is weeping where her ears always rub against her clothes (my chubby bubby doesn't have much of a neck yet!) for this reason I have started dressing her in cotton only.
Thanks so much for the tip! We will give it a go and hope for the best while awaiting our doctor's appointment to have it looked at.

Oh no Pookiesossige.. :(
It's awful when it's at a point of weeping, isn't it?
DS would scratch his ankles, and his legs are covered in blood scratches, and the front of his feet were constantly bleeding or weeping. And nothing i did would make a difference.
I can't get a 9 month old to understand "no scratching"... and putting full jumpsuits meant that it wasn't getting any air.

Now I just put that cream on at every nappy change.. it's getting much smoother.. no more weeping or bleeding.. and he doesn't appear to scratch so much.

:fingerscrossed: it works for your DD too.

We tried this one on now Miss 6 excema, but it didn't do anything for her. We found the smell YUCK and it tended to sting her skin if she had broken it from scratching. :(

Glad that it has helped others though:thumbsup:

She got immediate relief from The Body Shops Hemp Body Butter.

As someone said before, what works for one, sometimes unforunately (and expensively) doesn't work for another....
