We started DD on Thursday on rice cereal. She was 17 weeks last thursday. She seemed to go really well until yesterday when I gave her rice cereal in the morning and the afternoon as well, instead of just in the morning. Last night she woke three times in the night yelling out and in what appeared to be pain. She usually only wakes once per night. She was also really difficult to settle for bed, with alot of wind. I am just wondering if i should just hold off a while longer before re trying.. At least another 3 weeks or maybe just wait until she is 6 months. She is breastfed.

I wouldnt say its reflux. Id say its her little tummy digesting something that shes not used to.

Do you think she needs solids yet?? I though my DD was ready at 5 months because she was showing all the signs but she wasnt interested in food till about 7 months

If you tihnk shes read try just sticking to one meal a day for a while. Or even every second day. Make it short and fun. You will see when shes ready to move onto two meals

Thanks for the reply.. we have decided to wait a little longer before trying again.. it really did give her bad wind, and it isn't like her to wake so often in the night these days. She is a big baby and I do have good milk supply so i figure it won't harm to wait a little longer.. shame as she did enjoy her rice cereal.. but it does seem to make her uncomfortable..

they say that it is good to start reflux bubs earleir but in case she has some food allergies, maybe it's worth waiting..

i bought some rice cereal the other day but i have no idea whether it would make dd's pain worse, so i am going to leave it til after i see gastroenterologist i think!

I would add fruit, the iron in cereal blocks em up. Apple or pear cooked and pureed losens em up ;)

thanks gals.. Jet I think we would have a big problem if we added fruit.. M is such a finicky baby fruit would make her explode. We have just got her poop problems under control.. gone from every nappy being a poop to only 3 poops per day now..:)
