Sorry if this is one of those stupid questions. In fact I don't even know if it belongs here.

Chris and I have been blessed with an angelic sleeper.. he's always slept at night really well, from 10 - 4 and that number extends every now and then.

Anyway, he had his last feed at 9.30 last night, slept from about 10.. woke up at 5.30 when he's normally very hungry... I changed his nappy, lay down to feed him.. and he drank for maybe 5-10 minutes, enough to stop it from being engorged, but no where NEAR draining point.. then he farted a few times (charming young fellow that he is) and fell asleep. He was in-between asleep and awake and I tried to stuff my nipple in his mouth, but he wouldn't take it... so we burped a little and changed positions but still not dice. I wrapped him and put him back into his bassinet and he fell asleep without a fuss.

Why did he reject me? *sniff* was I funny tasting? was he just not hungry (doesn't seen right for a 5 weeker..)? Or is it one of those mysteries of life and he'll be awake in half an hour screaming the place down for boob, and eat like he's never eaten before?

Aww :hugs: I wouldnt take it as rejection my DD used to do this when she was a newbie. They are just very unpredictable and tell you when they want to feed. I'm sure he probably just wasnt all that hungry & more sleepy  Dont worry he'll be screaming for it soon enough :D

If he was rejecting you, he would be frustrated and you would hear about (hopefully you're never lucky enough to play that fun game..;) )

He's just more sleepy than hungry right now is all and he's getting a lot faster at draining your milk so he's able to get enough to satisfy himself much faster.

Go back to sleep:sleeping: :D

problem is, K, I slept far too well last night so I'm not tired. :p

And as predicted (right after I ask silly questions) he was up for a feed and drained away for 20 minutes (before falling back to sleep)
Chris asked me "when did he last feed?" "Err.. I tried at 5.30 but he didn't really want it.."
" and before that? did he wake up in the night?"
"No no.. 9.30 was the last."
"Err.. feed him NOW." LOL

Oh Gosh Seekrit I am so jealous LOL I wish my son had "rejected" me like that lol just occassionally.....couldnt pry that nipple outta his mouth without a screaming fit!and that was after a good 30-40 min feed (on one breast!!!!)

On a serious note, you are blessed with a happy, content beautiful bub, try not to feel "rejected" as his probably just tired. Although its natural to have these feelings and a little self doubt.

You are soooooooo lucky!

I know NM! I was told by my CHN not to brag about his sleeping because I'll make other mums feel bad :o :(

I have the opposite problem to what you had with O.. when Cobey's eaten, if he's full he'll just scream if I try and reboob him, and then fuss around before one final yell JUST before he sleeps. I had to get him that dreaded dummy for that reason.. he wanted to suck to sleep but didn't want to have none of that nipple action (mustn't be like his mum.. I could eat full meals in my sleep if i tried..)

 glad you're feeling better.

This post ended up being the start of the 6 week growth spurt, by the way. He drank and drank ALL DAY with only 1.5 - 2 hour gaps... Today's been MUCH better! Thank goodness!
