DS has just turned 1 and I am not sure what sort of age gap is 'best' or more prefered by other mums.
I saw the other poll with the 2 or 3 year age gap, but am wondering if people could please vote and comment on a more specific age gap:

2 yrs
2 1/2 yrs
3 yrs
3 1/2 years

Thanks :D

Hi,
I am in the same situation as you. DS is just 1 and VERY clingy. Im not sure if I am ready to share 'myself' with a 2 yr old and newborn just yet!

We are looking at a 2 1/2 - 3 yr age gap, so we might start IVF when DS is 20 months old or so.

My DS is 20 months are we have started TTC for #2. :fingerscrossed: we are hoping that baby#2 will come when DS is 2.5 years. I am still BF and want to carry on until he is 2. I think he is still so dependant on me now and to be honest DH and I weren't ready for another one yet.
Having said all that I think there are pros and cons to EVERY age gap but just chose the ones that are important to you.
Good luck with your decison.

I agree with that, there are pros and cons with what ever we decide!

Thanks for replies. Is there any 'real' reason why 2 1/2 yrs is the least preferred??

We're going to have a 20 month gap. I don't think there's any magic number, you just go with it and take it as it comes. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

We have a 21.5mth age gap between our boys, DS1 turned 1 in the November & then we started ttc the following month at the end of Dec & I fell pg...DS2 was 3wks early. DS2 has just turned 1 & DS1 will turn 3 in November, I have often thought that a 2.5yr age gap or a 3yr age gap would have been easier, mainly due to a 3yr old being able to communicate better & I would have been able to focus on Toilet Training with DS1 which I haven't been able to do consistantly.

I actually really like that they are close in age, I couldn't do any closer & if we have a 3rd baby it will be a similar age gap...which is mainly due to our age - I just turned 35. I love how they interact with each other & I wouldn't change the gap but I do think a slightly bigger gap would be easier, but hey it's going to be hectic with a newborn for a few months anyway & then everything settles down.
