I don't know if anyone has any advice but my 8.5 month old DS wakes every night around 10.30pm 2.00am 5.30 am (sometimes more times) he is B/F during the evening and night and bottlefed during the day at daycare and at home. Seems like he must be waking in dream cycles?

He has bottles & solids during the day and NOT MUCH milk between 9am - 5.30pm he is only drinking between 200-300ml:eek: plus he has 3 ice cubes of vegies and a yoghurt or fruit. I then give him cereal at dinner in hope it would fill him more and b/f before he falls to sleep at 7pm.

Is it the lack of milk (surely this isn't normal:confused: ) that is making him wake at night as it seems he must be getting his nourishment then. I really want him to sleep longer and to drink more as worried he is not getting enough. I need more sleep too!

I'd say it could be the milk. I have the same problem with my dd...she just loves to fuss with her milk during the day and then wake up screaming for it during the night:banghead:

Maybe you could try to feed him frequently during the day, so you know he has had enough milk & solids (i think at that age roughly 600ml minimum?- and I know its hard when they don't want it) Then hopefully hunger won't wake him up that night and he will therefore be hungry enough to willingly eat more the next day thus breaking the cycle of swapping day for night. Does that make sense?

If you are confident he is getting enough nourishment during the day, it may be habit. Perhaps you could try to settle him with a bit of water? (Never worked for my dd lol). I did read once in the book 'The Baby Whisperer' that if your baby wakes up at the same time every night then it is not hunger but a habit. Her suggestion on breaking that cycle was to actually wake up your baby and resettle them say an hour before they would usually wake up. Apparently this stops the habit after a few nights? I never tried it myself but if you want more details on that I can type up exactly what she suggests.

Good luck:)
