Hello,
I'm 5 weeks pg and feeling a bit lost with it all. I'm looking for an obstetrition on the Southside.
I'm pretty sure I will go to Sunnybank Private Hospital.
Can anyone suggest an obstetrition I can see. My GP was no help on this particular issue.
:( Thanks Jadeybug311

I was also wondering if my GP should have sent me for a bloodtest when I visited. He took my word for it that my home pregnancy test was positive , took my blood pressure, suggested prenatal vitamins and sent me on my way. I feel a bit ripped off is that it untill 12 weeks?

Hi,

If you are looking for a good Obstetrician, Dr Neil Astill is wonderful. He is based at Sunnybank Private. You will need a referal from your GP first.

He has been my gyno for a few years now and is very gentle and kind. Unfortunately I couldn't afford him as my obsetrician when I was pregnant as I do not have private cover.

As to your blood test, they usually do a test on STD's, Rubella (spelling????) etc. but not to test if you are pregnant (I think doctors use the same tests as the pharmacy sells anyway). You will probably find that the midwives or your obstetrician will send you for tests once you have an appointment.

Hope this helps! :)

Hi, I am 5 months pregnant and had a real problem getting into an ob that preacticed at Sunnybank Private. I finally found a great guy ho is really caring, not over priced and listens to my concerns and questions.(first time baby) I have to have an elective caesarean and he was wonderful in alaying my fears. So if you havent :p found one try Dr Neil Shilton. He also partcipates in Private Health gap cover. Hope this helps and good luck
