Hi,
I am new to this site and want to introduce myself. My name is Louise and have just moved from Brisbane to Adelaide and have 3 children from a previous relationship and am currently 5 months pregnant with twins...eek! The bigger that I am getting the more nervous I am getting ( I am now the same size as when I was full term with my previous 3). I would love to hear of other peoples experiences carrying twins and how they coped during the last few months.

Hi Louise

Congrats on the twins:yelclap: Do you know whether they are identical or fraternal? I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with monochorionic (identical) twins and am truely feeling it at the moment. My girls share the one placenta so pose more risk to certain complications like twin to twin transfusion which I am sure you have heard of. My pregnancy was pretty straight forward up until about 24 weeks where I went into pre-term labour and was flown to Liverpool Hospital from Canberra cause Canberra didnt have any NICU beds for the twins if they were to come. They stopped the labour and kept me on some medication and it pretty well much stopped. At this stage one of the twins was smaller then the other which they wanted to keep an eye on as the pig of the two has better umbilical cord attachment to the placenta then the other which means one is getting better supply so to say then the other. From 24 weeks to 32 weeks things went ok but again at 32 weeks I went in to pre-term labour and again sent to Liverpool. The last couple of weeks have been pretty much hell as I have been sick and trying to looking after my 4, 3 and 1 1/2 year old children. I went to my regular fortnightly ultrasound yesturday and they are concerned with the smaller twin as it hasnt put on regular growth as it should - there is now 470 grams between the two which isnt good - they usually dont like to see it go more then 300g I think. SOOO - it now looks as though I will be induced at 36 weeks - so another week to go!!!!! I so cant wait - as much as I love being pregnant - I have had enough:thumbsdown: the swollen everything on my body is getting to me.

How is everything progressing in your pregnancy?? I must say that I thought carrying twins I would be much much bigger - a lot of people are shocked when they say "oh - you are going to have 4" and I reply "no - I am having twins so that makes 5", My belly isnt that much bigger then my previous pregnancies - only more discomforts this time.

I hope all is going well for you and you are resting as much as you can - you will need it - the more advance you get - the more you feel it. Wait until you feel double the hickups - you can never get the rest you want!

Hope to hear from you:thumbsup:
