my 3 month daughter has just been put on zantac as the gaviscon was making her coinstipated. tonight was a nightmare. She choked on her bottle then started having a coughing fit then spewed up milk and clear gooey smelly stuff. She was also screaming the house down, she would drink little bits then scream. I havent been given any information regaurding Zantac so any advice would great. She has 1.5 ml twice a day. but has only had her first dosage tonight. she is also teething does that effect reflux at all??
I am thinking of adding the karicare thickner to her formula as the gaviscon infant makes the formula thicker. and will hopefully stop her chokeing on her fornula.
PLEASE HELP
Reflux is just horrible, isn't it? Sounds like you've had a terrible night. Zantac can take up to a couple of weeks to fully kick in, so in the meantime you could give her some Mylanta as well, just 1-2ml half an hour before her feed. (The regular Mylanta you can get at the supermarket). Make sure you don't give the Zantac within an hour either side of the Mylanta as it will be less effective. As for the formula, sorry I'm not sure what you can do as my reflux bub is breastfed. Hope things start getting better for you.

When DS first started Zantac he absolutely hated it. I would give a little bit, let him drink, a bit more Zantac etc .. till he had it all. Have you ever tasted it? Its horrible and strong so its no wonder bubs hate it at first, but they do get used to it.

missy is fine with the Zantac she pulls funny faces but she doesnt spit it out. Its amazing how quick it has worked she doesnt sound conjested anymore.
Wat formula is every one using, she was on the nan pro but i have changed her to the NAN AR formula nd have had to cut the variable flow closer to nature teats a little bit as they werent coming out fast enough for her, but she seems fine with it, Does any one else use a AR formula???
