hiya
how u doing

i had 3 rounds of iui

none of them worked for me
but they did help me ovulate

i found all 3 rounds ok
i was abit worried about giving myself injections
but it was fine and it dosnt really hurt

and then u go for ultrasounds and bloodtests to see if the injections are working or not

and i didnt get any sideeffects from the injections
i found the iui injections alot better then taking the clomid

hope this helps

I had 2 IUIs, and got pregnant from both, however I miscarried with the 1st, and the result of the second is crawling around on my lounge room floor wreaking havoc as we speak! on the 2nd attempt we also had luteal phase support with low dose asprin and progesterone pessaries. FYI, I have
PCOS, but my endometrial lining was healthy. Good luck with your IUI

Anyone else with any IUI stories??????

We are starting next month and the 5-20% chance of success is not making me feel very confident!

the 5-20% chance of success is not making me feel very confident!

The way my Dr explained this was that a healthy couple has a 20% chance of conceiving in a cylce, and the average for IUI is about 15 - 17% which is only marginally less than for a healthy couple.
I have heard a lot of people say their FS didn't want to bother with IUI and move on IVF instead, so the fact that your Dr wants to do it suggests that you are a good candidate. I know its hard, but do try to relax knowing that your Dr is doing the best they can to make it happen for you by taking away some of those obstacles that we 'fertility challenged' gals have.

Hi there, I'm new on here.
I had my first IUI last Wednesday. I cant really preg test till next Thurs. (if i can hold out that long)
The procedure was uncomfortable but it didnt hurt. I felt really weird for the rest of the day/night. I had slight spotting and cramps that night. Now i feel sorta like a stitch feeling, could be anything really. Lol.
I will keep you updated on how successful it is and GOOD LUCK with your IUI!!!! Remember to be relaxed when u get it done. Seems simple enough huh. ;)

We are due to start IUI this month but have had a set back with timing. I guess you will be able to tell me what to expect by the time we get our turn. I am not sure what to think about the whole thing. I am not on any drugs as yet, it is all to do with DH's swimmers being abnormal.
Good luck, I really hope it works for you! It will give me hope too.

Thanks. We are trying to stay positive and I will be trying very hard to relax when we have the first IUI done.

hi we had unexplained infertility (YAH) 3 rounds of IUI and no luck then we stopped wasting time and went straight to IVF

but as we all know IUI does work for some hope you are one of them but I would not be doing to many rounds if not getting a BFP

Thanks-my FS has said 3 rounds of IUI and then we move on to IVF. Hoping the IUI does the trick, but not getting hopes up too high.

We did 3 rounds of IUI (with me taking clomid only). All unsuccessful but honestly it was a walk in the park! It's not painful at all, just a bit inconvenient with all the blood tests and scans to check where you're up to with your cycle. And only cost $170 out of pocket each time (much cheaper than IVF which we are starting next month).

Good luck!

Hi I feel pregnant first go with IUI after 6 failed clomid cycles. However my first IUI cycle was ectopic and my left tube was damaged. The 2nd IUI failed, and then with the 3rd the egg was on my left side so we had to cancel. I then conceived DS via IVF first go.
Good luck.

Good Luck!!!! And thanx for the above, but it was BFN :(
Had to miss my last cycle because the fertility centre ran out of the donor we were using ... grrrrr.
Finally, we got 1x vial of donor sperm, did a round of Clomid/Trigger, and had my 2nd IUI today. Fingers crossed for us all to get some xmas miracles!!!!

This is going to sound like such an amature/naive question but it has been bugging me for a while now...

Is there anyone out there doing IUI because their man can't... well... perform when it's required?

Or is it all because of other fertility issues? (Bad swimmers, blocked tubes, PCOS, etc)

Yep like you said immature question I think a little research out of a forum of people with fertility issues would have answered your question

Hi Ladies,
just a quickie..just got a medicare statement, & for my 4th cycle this year I got back out of $8445.00......$0.00.
Code was maximum number of services for this item already paid. So I guess I will have to wear it, but I could not find anywhere on medicare or googling where it says a maximum no of cycles. I know things changed on Jan 1 but where was the warning?
Here is my warning!!
So hope everyone is well.

Overitand36 - In no way was it an immature question, but one posed from a place of hurt and desperation. I have searched and searched the BH forum over the last 6 months trying to find someone else with the same "fertility issue" that my husband and I struggle with. We can't get pregnant because he has delayed ejaculation. Finally, as a last resort I posted a message on a thread where I thought... hoped... there might be someone going through the same problem as me. Obviously, given your message, I am very much alone in my journey.

Aloria I am sorry if my post has caused you to be upset I guess I read your wording a little incorrectly and took it as another post written my someone who making light of fertility issues.

I now understand that this is definitely not the case in your situation not that I am blaming you but sometimes I little more information may help. Not the I am any expert at all but the same sort of technique used in IUI could be used at home, similar to what some surrogates use to become pregnant.

All the best and again I am truly sorry I upset you

I Totally agree!
We did 2 IUI DI and both were unsuccessfull. Our Dr recently told us that due to a recent study, he will now be informing his patients that IVF is a better option as too many times couples are going through IUI wasting time and money, when after IVF the success rate jumps straight away.

We are doing IVF now, but i wish he had of told us that over a year ago! :) we might have saved $3500!

IUI is easy, simple, and straight forward, although I recommend going straight to IVF, as I am only 28 with perfect eggs etc, we used Donor semen which has a very high sperm count, and we still got 2 unsuccsessfull IUI BFN.
