Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a good paed in the Sutherland Shire area? I am in Como but am willing to travel anywhere in the Sutherland Shire.

My little one (14 months) is currently in a hip spica cast after discovering she had congenital hip dysplasia. My normal GP and Clinic failed to pick this up even though I questioned them both about her funny looking crawl several times. They both said it was nothing to worry about. But it turns out I was right to worry.

Anyways, that is another story - basically I don't feel I can trust my GP anymore and would like to find a paed that I can see for DD.

Also, this might be a stupid question but do you need a GP referral to see a Paed?

Thanks :)

I have taken DS to see Dr Martin (can't remember first name) at the paediatric clinic at Miranda which from memory is called Shire Paediatrics. You do need a referral from a GP to see a paed. A good GP will also make suggestions for the paed they think is right for you.

Dr Anthony Epstein is right near Kareena Hospital. I think he is thorough and terrific. Just google the telephone number but he is on Kareena Road

JesseBear - who did you end up finding in the end?

Do you like them?

We saw Dr Stephens for years, but were handed over to Dr Martin when my son required more frequent visits to Sydney Childrens Hospital in Randwick.

Both are fantastic and I'd definitely recommend both of them.

In the end I went with Dr Kleiner. Two of the mothers from my mothers group go to him with their kids and they said that he was very good.

There is about a 3 week waiting period - I should see him in about a month or so.
