so i finally went in to do my GD test today - have been carrying around the referral for the last 2 weeks.

So i drank the nasty drink and promptly vomited it back up 10mins later.
The lady was rather annoyed with me even though i had explained beforehand that i have been suffering hypermesis and it was likely that i would be sick.

So she gave me another cup of it to drink, only got halfway through before up that lot came along wth the remains of my breakfast - just lovely.

Silly lady looked quite annoyed once again. She said well do you want to go away and come back and try again tomorrow! not on your life lady that was more than enough torture for this week.

not sure what my Gp is going to say but hey at least i tried - twice!

I don't fit any of the risk factors anyway so i'm not too worried.

anyone else had this happen to them?

Nothing like this happened to me.

What a rude lady to get annoyed at you. You warned her prior and you tried. Not your fault.

thats what i thought too. I told her how aprehensive i was about doing the test as i have been so sick but she chose to ignore that part i think.

ROFL I couldn't help laughing at this. I'd almost go back the next day and throw up again just to really annoy her!! :D:barf:

What a silly woman.

lol i know as if me coming back tomorrow is going to make a difference.

if she is that keen to see me vomit she can come over to my place anytime and i guarantee if she stays an hour it'll happen. lol.

Oh Hun!! Big hugs!!!!

I somehow managed to do the short test (only just I vomited once I got back in the car!!) which I was actually so proud of myself only to then have my ob tell me that I had to go do the long test!! Fat friggin chance mate!!

What i did instead is monitored my blood sugar levels and kept a diary - I find this so much more accurate anyways!! Maybe this is something they can suggest to u, most hospitals have a diabetic educator who helps u out (and it's all bulk billed even privately!)

why on earth would she get annoyed.
Its not like u walking in there thinking... hmmm i might just throw up a bit, just for the fun of it and to make this lady's day a little harder.
Stupid woman.

You poor thing!

I know your pain with having to take the test and with HG!
My Ob put me on the long GTT straight up "cause you have babies over 8 pounds"

It was so horrible - The fasting was enough to make me vomit numerous times before I got there. The I had to wait another 30 mins before she was ready to take me.

I did not vomit it up( until about 4pm) but I became dizzy, sweaty and I had a massive headache for the rest of the day. I actually had to go to bed and up my Zofran to cope.

I don't think you should have to go back again esp with HG and no risk factors, You can deny going back - You feel vile enough anyway, It is not fair.

The lady had no reason to be so rude, She is not the one dealing with vomiting it is not like you vomited on her shoes - Though she deserved it. She was getting paid as it is her job to do the tests, could you imagine what type of nurse she would be if she had to care for patients not just take blood.

The EXACT same thing happened to me with my DD 9 years ago- I am forever traumatised by it and have never done it again!!!!

This is what I would suggest- request regular finger prick and blood tests insteadto get an idea of sugar levels. If they show up anything suggestive of GD then you may ahve to do the fully blown test but in the absence of that and no other symptoms I wouldn't worry and wouldn't attempt it again. That's what I've done the last 2 pregnancies.

You poor thing, it truly is AWFUL:dizzy::barf:and that lady should be more sympathetic, what a cow.

Nope didn't go back to get it done. explained to my GP what happened and she said oh well not to worry at least you tried. and as i don't fit any of the risk factors and am already being monitored quite carefully due to other issues its not a big deal
