Hi everyone, I am having my first baby at JHH and would like to go as natural as possible even though I know that this plan is definitely not in stone :) I would just like to know what having birth in the centre was like and any advice?
Hi there,
The birth centre is a beautiful way to birth your baby. I haven't birthed there myself but I have supported mums who have and they've all been awesome, calm natural births in there.
Midwife care is fantastic!
You need to ring and book in fairly early as places fill fast.
Have you also looking into Belmont Birth Centre?

No I haven't I am currently seeing the midwives at JHH, does that mean i have to have the baby at their birth centre or are all the Newcastle birth centers interconnected? I have heard wonderful things about Belmont as well. I am 20 weeks now so I better book because it is something I really want to do
If Belmont appeals to you you can talk to your midwives at the JHH about it- the can point you in the right direction. But essentially, you'll need to call the BBC and see if they have vacancies around your due date and go from there.
With the JHH birth centre, just ask your midwives about transfering to the birth centre- it may be a bit late now.
How long until your next appointment? If it's more than a few days I would ring them and explain to them what you want and ask them if it's possible to birth in the birth centre.
Hope that helps :flowerz:

I had my DD at BBC - and I can't speak highly enough of them!
I swapped my care from a hospital booking where I was threatened with induction etc at 33 weeks.
BBC took me on board and approved a home birth if we needed that.
I chose to go in to the centre because of the setup they have and because I had a 2 year old as well.
The staff are beautiful, my birth plan was read and followed to the letter - the support was amazing and I can't speak highly enough of the experience.
If you need a transfer JHH isn't too far and your midwife goes with you where they have permission to deliver there as well - so you'll have continuity of care.
Do look into it - because if worst comes to worst and you need to go to JHH at the end, you get your midwife!
