Just a warning to anyone who owns or is thinking of buying the Phil & Teds E3 with the attached toddler seat....

I thought this pram was fantastic whilst using it with the toddler seat attachment on top and with my younger child laying on the bottom part (todder + newborn mode). However, my youngest is now 8 months and I use the pram with the toddler seat attachment on the back (ie, toddler + toddler mode) yesterday my 8 month old stuck his hands on the wheels, he is not a huge baby and had no problem leaning forward (even though properly strapped in ) and reaching the wheels. It was lucky I saw him before he managed to get his hand stuck and hurt himself.

Anyway, just a warning to you all to watch your younger child carefully when in the back seat of the toddler + todder mode as they can reach the wheels if they are inclined to try. I would hate to see a little one loose their fingers!

I am going to try to find out if this issue has been brought up with Phil & Teds - hopefully they can improve their design to prevent this happening :shame:

this was the very reason i didn't buy this stroller, CHOICE australia (consumer association) found this in their testing of strollers and advised consumers not to buy this pram ....... obviously that doesnt help those who already bought it! :(

Hi JR'smum. Sorry that you had to find out about this design problem the hard way. Hope your little man is OK and no harm was done to his hand.

The fault in the design has been identified previously and Phil & Teds have responded by releasing a rear tyre guard that covers the back wheel and stops little fingers getting close to the moving part of the wheel. They have only just become available in the last few months and don't seem to be in all stores just yet. Here is a link for your interest. https://secure.intellihost.co.nz/philandteds.com/online_shop/pat_onlineshop_ba2.htm (scroll down to the wheel guards)

I've heard it's not an isolated case or pram type. This apparently happens a lot with the addition of the toddler seat.

Wish I could remember where I read it though!

I remember viewing this thread a while back as I have purchased a P & T with the extra attachement. The rear guards are available in Australia now. I saw them at Babies Galore yesterday when I was in there.

That CHOICE review is rubbish! If you contact P&T and ask them about it they have addressed all the issues the review raised, including the rear typre guards which are now available. The other thing is that there are few incidents like this. Not none, but certainly not enough for them to redo their entire design, IYKWIM.

If anyone has issues with anything about the pram just contact them, they were very responsive and helpful when I drilled them for information.

Thanks for the tip. I contacted my local store to see if they had arrived and to ask the price. They kindly gave them to me for free. Apparently all of the P&T E3's now being sold have the guards already attached.

Hi, I have actually heard that for people who already have P&T pram that you can get the rear wheel guards for free from where you purchased the pram. Has anyone got them and used them yet??
