My lil man had his grommets & adenoids out today

My poor DS....he had his grommets put in today and his adenoids taken out....it was horrible! He is currently asleep but whenever he is awake he is screaming in pain...poor lil man! It was so hard watching him go thru this, I know its a pretty basic procedure but he reacted differently & worse than the other kids there today. Blood out his nose and mouth, vomiting after, thrashing around....its sooooo hard to see your own flesh go through this. I can't imagine how others cope when its more serious and I really feel for them. Anyway, he will be up and ok in the morning for sure.....there will be no stopping him!

Just wanted to say if anyone is getting this done and has any questions about it, feel free to ask away and I will be happy to answer.....

My DS had an op at 3 weeks old so I can understand how hard it is watching your kids go through things like this

I feel your pain!!!
DD1 had her adenoids taken out along with her tonsils and they tried once again to get grommets in but her ears are still too small, so they performed another myringotemy (where they put the knife through the ear drum to act like a grommet for a short time) She had to spend the night in hospital and had alot of trouble waking up after the anaesthetic. She is fine now and has most of her apetite back.

Is all the pain from the adenoids being removed? As DD had no problems after her grommets were put in.

So hard when there's not much you can do to help apart from big cuddles and kisses.

Thanks everyone....yeah I think the pain is from the adenoids, he says it hurts above the roof in his mouth which kinda is the area up through the nose etc where they are taken out of and obviously where the bleeding has come from too. One little boy there today just had grommets and he got up and walked out of there almost straight away...was perfectly fine!

jake had tonsils and adnoids out not long ago and he too woke up from anethesetic with blood out his nose and mouth. i was a blubbering idiot. the hospital gave him "painstop" to bring home which is stong pain killer for kids after ops. i found him worst just after waking so have some panadol ready to go in the morning and encourage a good breaky
