View Full Version : Update on help needed urgently please
Well last night was a normal night. He had a bottle at around 11 then he woke again at 3am and again just before 6. He was sookie all morning and would only sleep laying up against me. I did see a different dr today and he was very helpful. He said that broncitus(sp?) for this long. He sent us for a chest x-ray and to get a swab of his nostrals. He didn't like either. He is now on infasoy and zantac. We are not allowed to give him anything else till I see the dr again next tuesday. Hopefully everything will work with this formula. I know it is a bad thing to say but I hope they find something in the x-ray, that way we will know what is wrong.
I am will keep you updated on how he goes.
:fingerscrossed: that the zantac and new formula work

Don't feel bad about wanting the x-ray to show something, we were exactly the same with Kade - it's instinct, you know when something isn't quite right. Turned out in addition to the reflux and dairy intolerance our poor little mite had a urinary tract infection
Our paed says around 50% of kids who are allergic to dairy also have a soy intolerance, so don't worry if the Infasoy doesn't work there are still other options. Kade is on Pepti Jnr now and has improved outta site. They also changed him from Zantac to Losec.
:fingerscrossed: you'll get the answers you need soon.
I feel for you! :hugs:
Well all he did on the infasoy was drink half a bottle then throw it up. I took him back to the drs this arvo and he has now put him on to goats milk. He drank half of it then spewed it all over me.
I was talking to my mum and she suggested that we start from scratch again as he wasn't throwing up the normal heinz milk. Just give him that and once a day add a teaspoon of farex to it.
I just don't know what to do.
You may have already tried this so please ignore me if you have. But you can get karecare food thickner that you can add to any formula. You could add that to the Heinz and it may help keep some in his tummy.
Has he been any more settled?
Even when my kids were on the Zantac they still continued to vomit after every feed (DS quite a lot) until they walked.
I really hope your little boy settles down soon:hugs:

:hugs: To you....i know where you are at right now...and it is difficult to see bubs in pain.
I agree with Rell. Zantac/losec medications only stop the pain that comes with reflux, they don't stop the chucking. A combination of a reflux medication and a thickened formula is probably your best bet. If you know that he did well on heinz, then try him on that with the Zantac medication. You can add food thickner to the formula if he isn't keeping it down- Karicare make some- you should be able to buy it in a chemist.
Please do remember though, that zantac takes 2 weeks to work. It will seem like the longest wait in the world...but it is worth it!
:hugs: Hope things start to improve for you.

(Kade's Mum- great to hear that things are going so well for you now!:smiliedance: )
He is back on the heinz now. He is only spewing now when he has a cough attack. I haven't tried the farex yet as I have forgotten to buy it. I also have the echn coming over on thursday to have a look at him and to have a chat. She has told me to get him in to see a pead as the dr's aren't helping any. Hopefully we have a good weekend as we are going to tamworth and wont be home till monday night.
:fingerscrossed: it goes well
