Hi, DS has eczema, had a nasty rash so i took him to the dr and she is said it was eczema. This is the first outbreak he has had, and today he cut his first tooth. He had no other complaints, a bit of extra dribble just the eczema. So, my question is has anyone elses bubs had outbreaks when teething and should i prepare myself for lots more.

Hey Nizzma, did your Dr mention anything about drool/dribble rash? My DS has eczema too, but has had drool rash at the same time, which has cleared up when DS hasn't been drooling too badly. The drool rash responds to the same treatment as the eczema, and is just around his mouth and under his chin. I'd see if the rash disappears with the drool drying up a bit.......good luck with it all :o

PS - I use a barrier cream called Sudocrem - it's been helpful at keeping the drool rash under control.

They are definately related. My DS gets eczema but when he is teething he gets it really bad all over his body. Thanks goodness he only has his 2yr molars to go.
At least you know the cause

Zaq is the same, I use Paw Paw under his chin for the dribble rash, it seems to help clear it up...

Ejs recently got some excema on her chest (no where else) and I hadn't given her anything really different in her diet than whats shes had in the past. She is teething though.

I took her to the doc's yesterday who said it was caused by the stress of teething (I didnt know it could cause excema  ) She does have a browish spot on her chin though also which looks like it may be similar to her chest and has been dribbling a bit also in that area.

The doc said to put some 1% cortisone cream on her chest (not sure about putting it near her mouth on the other spot though but I forgot to ask him about that one).

Thinking back the rash probably started real mildly around the time the 1st tooth actually came through the gum.

Coop never complained AT ALL with his first tooth, it just appeared at the same time as the eczema under his neck. But this time he has three teeth coming through and is misreable and has eczema covering his back, it came back under his chin, on his ankles, armpits, behind his ears and i think it is starting in his elbow creases. Poor fella, luckily (for me not him i guess) he cant actually get at most of the spots to scratch, just behind his ears.

I didnt think of the stress thing, the dr or CHN told me stress could bring it on, but i didnt associate that with teething... thanks!

He had the dribbling rash really badly about two maybe three days before the tooth came through that hung around till it was through.

Oh yeah and the dr told me to keep the 1% cortizone cream away from his face... so hopefully you come back and see that lol

Thanks for the tips!! Will have a go at the barrier cream!
