Hi everyone!
My DD is 2yo, and beginning to show signs of toilet interest;

Says "poo" at nappy change time and/or she has actually "done the deed".
"Poo" time is generally daytime, and after she retreats to a "quiet corner" to do so.
Comes into toilet (following me) tears off toilet paper, wants to flush, associates it with "poo" etc.

I have just purchased a "cute" potty and have positioned it in the toilet in the hope that she will grow accustomed to it.

Does anyone have any tips that will help me to ease her into this next stage?
I don't want to force the issue, but I want to help her with the transition, as she seems to be showing interest.

We bought the Kleenex toilet paper with the pictures of dogs etc on it, it's specifically geared for showing kids where to tear off the paper. This was a novelty factor that helped.

Another thing that worked for us was a sticker chart. We just got heaps of sparkly stickers and everytime DD went to the toilet we gave her a 'sticker' on the chart. There was no rewards perse, she was thrilled to see a sticker put on the chart.

We never pushed the subject, we let DD initiate her toileting and I think this really helped as she never felt pressured to 'perform' so to speak, but when she did of her own accord she got a sticker.

I also bought terry toweling training pants, so she felt special with 'undies' on and if she had an 'accident' she actually felt wet and uncomfortable. I never bought pull ups, as I wanted her to feel the sensation of being wet etc.

We also put a little kiddy toilet seat on top of the normal toilet seat and a step stool to help her get up to the toilet. In her bedroom at night we put a little potty in the corner and it worked a treat.

She was toilet trained at 2.5 and it went really smoothly.
:thumbsup:Good Luck!
