Just wondering if it's normal to be feeling pain "down there" while I'm pg. I had an episiotomy and a shocker of a tear when I had my DD so the scar was sore for a good few months anyway, but before I was pg it hadn't hurt for a long time.

Do other peoples' scars give them grief when they're pg again? Does it mean it will hurt more / not stretch properly during labour? Does it mean you're more likely to tear again? I'm starting to  just thinking about it!

Sorry to hear of your discomfort TL

:hugs:

Its probably the weight of bubs resting on your pelvis and putting strain on your pelvic floor area which is causing your scar to hurt a bit...
In regards to tearing - I didnt have this problem myself with my second but i still tore as badly as i did with my first so i think if your gonna then your gonna iykwim...?

Just keep up the pelvic floor exercise

I get pain around my C/sec scar, and have been told it is a normal part of having any scar tissue, so I assume it would be a similar story with an episiotomy scar. It is not the actual scar you are feeling, but the sensitive tissue right near the scar.

I had this too! The scar from my episiotomy with DS#1 is quite big and thick. It hurts every time my period is coming and does so for the first 1-2 days of my period. I get a kind of pressure on it.
I was really worried during my DD's birth that it would open up but thankfully it didn't and not when I had DS#2 either. I was a bit hesitant in pushing with DD as I got scared it was going to tear and I just kept panting until eventually the midy said, "You need to push now, we can see the eyebrows." As soon as I heard this, I thought, Piece of cake, I can do this and out she plopped! If you take care to push slowly and carefully (if that is possible during the throes of it all!) and only when baby is totally ready, you should be fine. All the best, Tea Lady, you must be starting to get excited about the birth now! :)

Thanks for the reassurance! I'm so glad you didn't tear again FC - it gives me hope! I think I'd be more excited about the birth if I wasn't scared witless about having another horrible tear :o It's seeming a bit too real now IYKWIM!
