help with b'day party plz

good evening ladies,

My ds is turning 6 soon, and i need ideas for a party.

Our house is only little , and yard not very secure (low fence near semi busy roads)

So it will have to be at a local park or similar.

What sort of things can i do to entertain the kiddies?

We went to a party in the park afew weeks ago, it had a theme of ''favorite super hero'' and kids had fun, but the activities the parents provided didnt really ''grab'' the kids.

They all ended up just playing on the play ground.

I dont mind them having free play, but id love for them to have activities as well...

So ladies...give me ur best birthday party ideas please.

What about a piñata? Most kids love them!! You could always go with a few old favs - pass the parcel, egg and spoon race (I went to a space themed party where they called this a moon rock race), treasure hunt? Obstacle course races or even just running races? Are you going with a theme?

We had a ghost party last year and had 'eyeball races' instead of egg and spoon. Same concept but with table tennis balls with eyes painted on them. The kids had fun. We also had musical statues, but the fav was def the flying balloons. You can buy them fairly cheaply from the Reject Shop.

a treasure hunt would be good since there would be lots of hiding places. also since its outside the kids can be a bit messier then at a house party so maybe let them paint some pictures or something? different sports games like 10 pin bowling kits or mini golf?

oh i like mini golf, and afew little golf sets from kmart would be cheap.

I wanted to do a rockstar theme, have a guitar cake and music and play musical statues, and i thought it would be cool to have a fake tattoo both, but i dont think many parents would be too impressed with that... So what else could a rock star party have?

Pass the parcel with home made cd's with afew songs? Or is that too much effort and to advanced for 6 year olds?

How could i do the egg and spoon race? What could the egg be from a rockstar world?

i would love to do a pinata, but i think my boys and afew others from school would end up hurting someone with the whacking stick.lol.

i also thought about a party at the skatepark, get the kids to bring their scooters, but not every child has a scooter, and our local skatepark has a group of foul mouth teenagers who do not play nicely (and got a mouthful from me last weekend..grrr.)

Rock star party-

Rock n Roll Freeze dance
Air Guitar Jam- make the guitars and than air guitar
Dance Party- hire a local dancer to teach the party kids a small dance routine
Name that tune
Rock n Roll Charades- acting out a pre-determind singer.
Guess that lyric
Make a music vid- devide the party into small groups and get them to create a dance routine (have props available) and than bring them together to make a music vid.
Various art and craft- design sunglasses, jewelery

As for games...
- Pin the guitar on the birhtday kid (use a cardboard cut out with a photo of his face glued on).
- Smartie spit..furthest spitter wins a prize
- Sack races
- Hang an apple from a tree and each child has to try and bite the apple with their hands tied behind their backs.
- Treasure hunt with clues
- Cookie decorating , have biscuits ready and set out icing , sprinkles and lollys for the kids to decorate their own.

Maybe if parents wouldn't approve of the fake tattoo booth you could use those coloured hair sprays or glittery hair gels? I don't know if that's much better but then they could get a rock star hairstyle?

i asked around the school parents thismorning and noone seems to mind the tattoos... Infact most kids had them on under their uniforms.lol.

Love the hair spray too.

Im going to spend my afternoon at work designing invites.

im thinking black cardboard invites, with a red guitar cut out and some gold glitter to decorate... Ill get a silver pen and write out the invites.
