View Full Version : Not sure what to do?

Hi, I'm new here, well not entirely I have been stalking for a while but haven't had the courage to post before now.

I'm not sure what to do, we have been TTC since 01/09 and have had 3 MC in this time, 8wks 6wks & 6wks, so I seem to be able to get pregnant, but just cannot maintain the pregnancies.

My Ob has had me on Clomid 50mg for 4 months and 100mg for this last month for suspected Luteal Phase Defect (my LP was average 9 days). Now even though I have been able to conceive before, I have not been successful on any of these cycles but my luteal phase has gone to an average of 11.

I am at a loss as where to go from here. My ob said I could do 6 months on clomid so I have one month left but I am thinking maybe the clomid is not helping at all. I was monitored the first cycle and all was fine and I had 3 follicles.

I am going to be referred to a FS next month, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. I am thinking I might take this month off and try again without the clomid, but I am terrified of another MC? I am 31. What would you do, would you go another round?

If I were you then I'd take the last of the clomid and await my referral to the FS. In fact, I'd sort my referral out now. If you can get an appointment before AF is due then you can get all the tests done at the beginning of your next cycle (bloods and a scan need to be done between Cycle day 2 and cycle day 6)
It will speed up the whole process somewhat.
Do a bit of research on here to see what fertility clinics there are in your area and ask to be referred to somebody who has been recommended. (if you go the IVF board there are threads for costings and threads for different states/cities)
I also recommend phoning and speaking to the advisors that most clinics have I actually had all my tests before my first appt with the FS. It will also give you some indication of how long you will have to wait to see the consultant that you want, or if there are doctors without a long wait.
If you get a BFP then you just cancel your tests, but if not you've just gained a month in times for the tests etc.

I can't help with the specifics of clomid, but if it's there, you might as well maximise your chances whilst you're waiting! Hope that helps a bit anyway!
GL, keep us posted :)

Thanks Alipally, I actually went and got a referral to a FS today!:)
He is a couple of hours away but is still the closest one, so I can't help that. My GP is actually friends with him so I trust his judgement, and I didn't have to worry about trying to find one. I'm just waiting to find out how long it would be before I can get in. I have already had a lot of tests but I might give them a call now as well and see if there is anything else I can do while I am waiting.
Thanks again, will keep you posted.

I had 3 early losses before my successful pregnancy. I did nothing special but it just stuck.
