My twins were born at 34w5d. They are now just over 4.5 months old. They have been growing beautifully, and although are only at about the 10th% in height and weight, this is not of concern as all my children have been like this as babies.

They have been fully breastfed until now but are really seeking out our food. There feeding needs have increased to the point that I'm now drinking 4l of water a day to keep them satisfied. I started solids with my other 4 between 4.5-5 months, based purely on their wanting to start it.

As these 2 were much earlier than the pothers, should I hold off until they are a bit older, or gradually introduce solids to them?

I was told with my premmie who was born at 28 weeks to start solids by their actual age, rather than their corrected age, as it has more to do with how long their bodies have been digesting food than how old they are. My little girl was 6 months actual age (3 months corrected) when I started her on solids and she was also breastfed up until that point. Hope that helps a little!

DS1 I started at 4-5mths (he was 35wker and tiny)
as he was interested and he loved them took to them well

Ds2 I was told to start at around 5mths corrected (7mth actual)
but he wasn't interested until he was 9mths actual

even my full termer is 7mths and not really interested

so if you feel they are ready
then its really up to you if you want to start
you could always try and if there not
stop and try again later

Great advice girls and thanks. About the only negative with them starting solids will be the weight loss I've been experiencing with me feeding so much!:)
