Hi all:wave: - warning long!
*Background info* 8 month old DD is a CMSPI refluxer who is fully breastfed - I am on a totally dairy / soy free diet and have been for months. She is on both Losec and Zantac and her dosages were last adjusted about 4 weeks ago.
Thursday morning we wake up and after her morning feed she does this gurgly sound and then we have a bit of a vomit - nothing out of the ordinary. After that we have an hour and a half of full on projectile vomiting - the vomit is thick and mucousy and she is gagging and choking on it as it comes up. She sleeps on my chest all day (when DH comes home I'm still in vomit scented PJ's - just lovely!) and has a couple more big vomits later in the day and then a big nasty poo which has a bit of mucus in it. Her voice is croaky and she's feverish so I assume she has a virus .
We have a bad night - she feeds all night (which is fine since I don't want her to get dehydrated) and I think her and I have about 2hrs sleep in total.
Yesterday she seems a lot better - has 2 decent naps, not
really whingy, but still has a croaky voice and a bit of a fever so I give her both nurofen and panadol at different times throughout the day.
Last night DH was on night shift and said that it was like her reflux was flaring up - she would only stop crying when held upright and did another really slimy mucousy poo.
She did another one this morning. She hasn't had any solids for 48hrs.
Thanks for reading if you've got this far! Anyway, my questions -
If she's has a virus / flu type thing, can this cause her reflux to flare up? Should we give her extra reflux meds?
Re: the mucus on the poo - is it possible that this would be a result of panadol or nurofen or does it mean there's something else in my diet I need to eliminate? Should I be making an appt with her paed GI?
Any other suggestions or ideas? Thanks in advance!
