View Full Version : Why did you vote for the Party you chose?
There seems to be so much chatter about why each party is crapola, but not much about what got you to vote for the Party you chose.
So I voted for the Greens.
I did this because I felt they reflected my values the best.
Some of the reasons are:
I value their strong stance on Legalising Gay marriage.
I value the fact that they are serious about climate change.
I value the fact that they see asylum seekers as just that, and not as sub-humans.
I value that they respect my right to Choice when It comes to my reproductive choices.
So why did you support the Party you voted for?
I voted for the Greens too. I work in the construction industry (although I'm in admin) and it's an industry that has more deaths than the defence force. The Greens are the only party who genuinely promise to get rid of the ABCC, who are like a secret police-type comission who go after construction workers and their union.
I also voted for them because I want change. I am sick of living in a country that is so behind. Honestly, it's the year 2010, it's not the dark ages any more. Things like gay marriage being illegal is just beyond revolting.
I think they did great this time around, I am so glad Australia seems to be moving away from the two party preferred system, slowly but surely!!

I voted for the Libs in the House, and the Greens in the senate.
I chose the Libs purely for economic reasons. I think that Australia escaped from the global financial crisis extremely well due to many factors, but the 2 most important were the state of our economy at the beginning, and the mining boom.
Labors decision to introduce the mining tax when we are still in the early stages of a mining-led recovery was a deal breaker for me.
The Greens in the senate because I thought someone other than the party in government should have control in the senate ... it wasnt actually because I agreed with many of the Greens policies - just that I dont trust either of the 2 majors, and one of them has to win government.

I voted Greens in the Senate for many reasons with my main reason being that they are actually compassionate when it comes to the boat people.
I voted Labor for numerous reasons some being that I think they did a fantastic job saving the country from recession, they apologised to the stolen generation, Julia Gillard is not a hypocritical Christian and for the plain fact that she is not Tony Abbott.
I also think that Labor have more of a social conscience whereas I believe the Liberal Party are pretty much for the rich and I find that extremely selfish.

The Greens really do show compassion when it comes to refugees.
It was one of the stand outs for me!

Glad someone else does, seems we are in the minority in this country. It really saddens me.

I voted greens in both houses.
The above are all important to me, but the main factor for me is their education policy. As a public school teacher, future mother of public school students, firm believer in public education and FAIR, equitable education for all, I can't go past them
I also like their indigenous policies!

In the House of Reps. I voted Greens first with preference to my local Independent (GO Wilkie!) because they both have policies I like.
Greens - asylum, climate change, environment in general.
Wilkie - he's strongly anti-pokie machine, anti-filtering of the internet, supports aged care and disability.
In the Senate I voted Greens first for the reasons above with preference to the Democrats because they specifically state that they support homebirth (and all other birth choices).
