My DD (born 10.09.05) has given up her arvo nap,:banghead: I give her a bottle and she gets all drowsy then I put her in her cot, and PING she is awake. .She babbles, whinges and plays for the hour then I get her up. Prior to yesterday she would sleep 11-12 hours at night and 1-1.5hours morning and arvo . Should I be giving her one BIG sleep? How much does other bubs have? Any thoughts would be muchly appreciated. Thanks in advance:smiliedance:

Hi

My bub is nearly 10 months and has recently dropped that arvo nap. She'd act all tired, I'd pop her down and she'd whinge, not go to sleep and then find second wind for the next round of play!

The solution I found works for us was to hold off that morning sleep until closer to lunch and she'll sleep a good 2-3 hours. So maybe your bub is telling you she's ready for one nap?

Good Luck:)

Hi,

Isn't your bub 11.5months?? I think most bubs still have 2 naps up until the age of one but many have just one big sleep in the middle of the day.

I would suggest to just give it ago. My friend had to do this with her bub and discovered that her baby still needed 2 "rests" rather than one big sleep. A rest meant that she played in her cot. At the time I didn't understand it but she tried one big sleep and bubba was just way too cranky!

Just give a few different things a go and see what works. Don't worry too much - you can't hurt your bub trying out different things. It's what you did to get to 2 days sleeps isn't it??

i guess my advice will be useless because my baby only slept for 20 minutes at a time, morning, noon, night. From the day she was born until now.
Hope that makes you feel better!

I guess all babies are different - a friend of mine has a boy who at the same age cut down to one nap per day, whereas my DD was still having 2 little naps per day. It sounds like your bub is transitioning into that one-nap-per-day phase.....but I could be wrong....perhaps she'll go back to two for a while, before eventually settling on one nap.

Good luck! And remember - the only thing constant is change....
