Yes you read the title right, I need a new uterus!!!

Here is the run down on what's been going on...

I gave birth to my gorgeous Kailah 11/03/06 and since the birth I have had nothing but trouble. I went home from hospital when she was 4 days old and was back in the emergency dept 2 days later with a really bad infection in my uterus (which they didn't end up saying what it was...) so 2 days later I was feeling well enough to go home and demanded to be released (I just had a friggen baby and missed her terribly and my DD1 and DH) so they let me go home.
So, bleeding went for what it seemed like forever!!
Next period was heavy, painful and lasted 10days (they usually only last 5 days). I then waited 2 more weeks and went on the depo shots (was thinking YAY!!! no more period!!!) But it was 1 week later I got AF again and it was HORRIBLE!!! REALLY painful, very heavy and lasted 3.5weeks:eek: I had to be put on hormone tablets to stop the bleeding. They did an u/sound and found excess folicles in my ovaries and one was twice the volume as the other, they were thinking I may have PCOS but didn't show enough symptoms so my GP is kinda ruling that out. Anyways, so when the hormone tablest ran out I got another period! and it lasted 12days! Was very heavy, painful etc. My GP ran blood tests and said I had come into contact with strep B and this could be the cause of my infection. Now I could not have gotton it from sex as we have not yet had any!!! so I have picked it up after the birth somehow.
This has me very confused. So the Dr put me on 2000mg of penicilin per day (4 capsules a day) to try and get rid of the infection. the tabs have left my skin terribly dry and itchy (but that's another story)
So now AF has returned only 2 weeks after the last visit!

Is there anyone out there that has had similar problems??
I am desperate for some help!
Every woman in my family has had a hysterectomy under the age of 36 with every one getting younger and younger with my mum having one at 31! I am fearing I am going to lose my uterus!!

Any help will be appreciated.

TIA.

I would conisder ANYTHING! I am tearing my hair out! I can't handle it much longer! I feel like I am constantly bleeding! Anything that will stop it and regulate me. I am just sick of being stuck in limbo, my Dr isn't giving me answers so I am going to get a referal to a specialist.

Hey Lunar - I'm sorry you are going thru this. I cant say anything but :hugs: . I hope you get this sorted out really soon.

Definately ask for that referal! Is there any chance you still have retained placenta? Have they done a scan since your little girl was born to check?

I was thinking of the retained placenta also, but surely that would be one of the first things the dr would think of?

Hope you find a solution soon.

Yeah they did a scan, I did mention it, that's when they found all the excess folicles. But they said there seemed to be no retained product. I forgot to mention the reason I had the scan in the first place and this may be TMI but I had 2 large clots that looked like skin...ewww...I know but that is exactly what they looked like.

Girlfriend! You need to take an hour for yourself and take yourself off the doc and demand some answers! This is going on for far too long now and you need to get it right. i still can not believe that your doc hasn't followed up the abnormalities in your scan! Get yourself off the gyno. I know anymore bubbas are not in the picture now, but what if they are later and there is a problem! Right I am on to you now - no more nice Kate! Go! NOW!

yes id be going to a specialist too- that doesnt seem right. Maybe theres an internal tear or something?
What state are you in? Maybe some of us can help you with names?

Totally agree with Kate !

Get your butt down to your g.p & demand answers if he isnt willing to give you any or the likes then get onto a gyno you need answers !!!
The longer you leave this especially with an infection of some sort the higher a chance of something going wrong.
You really need to push them !

I wish i had some great advice or knew of something like this but i dont.
If you need anything just call :hugs:

Lunar! How are things going now? :hugs: You poor thing, I just read all that and what an ordeal! I hope that you took that advice and demanded a referral to a specialist!! You have really had a rough trot. Make sure you are taking an iron suppement with all that blood loss and eating plently of iron rich foods (having a drink of OJ at the same time, vitamin C increases iron absorbtion) I know it sounds like pretty pathetic advice- but I can't do better because I havn't been in your situation except that the wrong type of contraceptive pill made me bleed for two months. I hope that you have made progress and are getting treatment! :fingerscrossed:

Hello
Like the girls have said, if you haven't already, insist on seeing a specialist as soon as possible. A family member of mine...had similiar problems after her baby was born, she was bleeding on and off..heavily and painfully for 9 months...the doctor did the same, couldn't really give her answers. Another family member insisted she demand to see a specialist and the specialist did a scrape test of her cervix (don't know the name) and discovered cancerous cells...

It may be less serious this for you but either way...this can't wait...

Just an update...
I have an appointment with a gyno in 3 weeks. My Dr has given up on me, hopefully the gyno can work out what is wrong and fix it quick smart!
Thanks for all your encouraging words ladies.

Have you had your gyno apointment yet??? GP's don't really know much about this sort of thing, so a gyno should be of more help - although mine couldn't give me a definative answer for my probs except 'your body is not metabolising your hormones'....... so :fingerscrossed: they have answers for you...... remember you can pm me anytime if you have questions or just want to talk....:hugs:

This current AF has been going for 4.5weeks! No ease form the pain either (except all the cocktails I drank at the AO sydney meet.. :o )

Thanks RB. I am hoping the gyno will do more than just another blood test or u/sound. HE has plenty of reading to do first... my GP took 20 minutes to type my referral:eek: :(

Hey Lunar- did you get a diagnosis from the gyno? How are you feeling?

Lunar
21-09-2006, 16:44
No he was a complete JERK!
I think I'm going to file a complaint against him. So now I am in search of a new gyno.
He basically said that it was hormonal and all in my head. And that the pill was going to fix everything.... that is the VERY nice version of the events. :crying: :gloomy: Tomorrow it will be 5 weeks this period has been going for:eek:
