Hello,
Would just like some advice on what to wear on your baby swimming. I cant find anything that will fit her. Shes 4 months and weighs 4.7kgs. But the smallest thing i can find is the huggies little swimmers ( 7kg-11kgs) and bright bots swimming nappies, but they are only in size 00. So what do i put on her. She does have bathers, but my husband is concerned about not putting anything on her bottom. Even though people at the pool just say to put nothing on, but i dunno, not too sure. Please let me know if you know of anything????
cheers,
kirsty (mummy to Hannah 05/05/05)
K Mart have have swimming nappies usualy in the baby section next to the swimmers and I think they come in 000
If you can't find anything small enough just put her bathers over the top to hug into the little swimmers a bit more just incase something does happen. Yeah, I am not too keen on the idea of nothing because I think if every child wees or poo's in the pool...yuck! Maybe that is okay once your child gets a bit bigger and you have more of an idea of their toilet routine.
You will have fun doing swimming but one bit of advice from me is that when you start, don't stop. I stopped when I started work (on call) and my daughter lost everything that she learnt and it was like starting from scratch. She lost confidence, became scared, cried etc. She is much better now she is older.
Have fun!!

Thanks melzy and rell. I will check K-mart for those. We have a pool about a 25 min walk from home, so i hope to start taking her twice a week. But we will be moving as it gets hotter, so hopefully there will be a poll near by. Otherwise my parents have a pool in the back garden. thanks again!

I take my DD to swimming lessons. She too is 4mths and is a tiny 4.7kgs, but I use the huggies little swimmers and they seem to fit her okay. I was also told that whenever you take bub into the water, you should put them in a swim shirt too (these come in 000 at target etc) so that they associate wearing protective stuff 'whenever' swimming, even if it is in an indoor pool.
Just thought I would add that in. Good luck.

cheers, thanks for that. Yeah i ended up finding the swimming nappies at k-mart for $9.99. and they fit great. and i bought a rashie at the end of last year from Big W, its a 0, a bit big, but its fine :) thanks again! By the way she loved it!!!!!!
I'm a bit late, but thought I'd add this for anyone else who's interested.
I really like the MotherEase swim nappies from NipNaps (www.nipnaps.com.au). It's nice and lightweight and non absorbant (unlike Bright Bots) so won't get heavy and drag them down in the pool. It also has a internal mesh layer to help catch any accidents :) They fasten with sidesnaps which are adjustable so you can get a good fit around both the waist and thighs.

Hi
I recently spent 2 weeks searching for a long sleeve rashie in a 00/0 size. After going to K-mart, Target, Best & Less, DJ's & Myers I ended up finding them at the big Factory outlet in Brisbane at Chermside (there is also one at Mt Gravatt). We start our swimming lessons this week and I was told that he wasn't allowed into the pool area without swimming nappies of some sort and a rashie. But finding a long sleeve one (we have pale english skin) was very difficult. At the outlet place there also had some swimming nappies (similar to the Bright Bots) but in smaller sizes.
Hope your little one enjoys the pool this summer. ;)
If you are looking for a full longsleeve rashie, try the QLD Cancer Council. You can buy online and they have lots of different styles.

Judy Bear 5, could you please give me the address of the discount store you refer to at Mt Gravatt :p
Hi
Just wondered from what age bubs can go swimming? I'd read somewhere 6months but I'd love to be able to take DD before then.
Thanks
The swimming school people told me 6 months after their vaccinations. We still have not gone (he's 14months), but we defineately will soon.
I have taken my guy swimming in our spa since he was newborn though. I think it is just the schools that they need to be older as there are so many other kids?
